Blind Ambition and Greed The play “Macbeth”, by William Shakespeare illustrates many themes through the characters from the beginning to the end of the story. But the main central theme introduced is Ambition and Greed. As the play goes on we read how Macbeth permits his Ambition and Greed to dictate the outcomes and tragedy’s that occur to himself and others.
Greed causes even the best of men to brood immoral intentions. The Tragedy, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, describes the flaws of human nature and the traumatic effects unrestrained ambition may cause. The play commences, featuring Macbeth as an eminent, highly esteemed Thane and loyal warrior to the king; however, after being prophesied by the three witches, a torch of ambition is lit. Furthermore, upon hearing the witches prophecies, his reputation is downgraded as he steps into a realm of evil, and more tragically, finds that he has “in blood stepped in so far that should [he] wade no more, returning were as tedious as go o’er”. After murdering the rightful king of Scotland, Duncan, and therefore subsequently, one murder leads to another; to a point where he cannot return from his life of evil “I am in blood stepped in so far that should I wade no more, returning were as tedious as go o’er”.
Ambition is to have the desire to achieve a goal threw hard work and determination, and must people in the world have ambition some really strong some not as much and others without any ambition. Those who do have ambition tend to cut down any tree that stands in there way and most will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal even in most cases that means to kill. We see ambition almost everywhere we turn in society like Macbeth, The Lorax, Edgar Hoover, Bernie Madoff, and even Snow White. In the shakespeare play “No Fear” we can look at Macbeth and Lady Macbeth who show us a type of ambition that would drive one to become insane.
In Macbeth, Shakespeare writes about a man named Macbeth, who has a very strong ambition to be the the king of Scotland. His credulousness led him into believing the prophecy from the three witches without thinking rigorously. Because of this prophecy, Macbeth is willing to do everything he can to gain the throne, even to the extreme of murdering someone. Shakespeare uses syntax, similes, and personification to convey the evolution of Macbeth’s insanity.
Here lay Duncan, his silver skin laced with his golden blood, and his gashed stabs look'd like a breach in nature for ruin’s wasteful entrance; there the murderers, steeped in the colors of their trade, their daggers unmannerly breached with gore. (2.3.129-135) To avoid accusations, Macbeth frames Duncan’s guards for the murder. He lies by saying that he saw the guards kill Duncan and that he killed the guards because he was emotional after watching his king die. He manipulates others in order to clear his name.
No boasting like a fool; This deed I’ll do before this purpose cool, (iv, ii, 149-153) This shows macbeth's ambition because he is willing to kill kids and a whole family just so he can stay king. Macbeth is a tragic hero because he meet that first requirement which is Hamartia This shows the that Macbeth is very desperate to stay king. By now, Macbeth has changed a lot.
First, Lady Macbeth uses her advantage over Macbeth to make him kill Duncan. Second, the witches use their prophecies to destroy intrude Macbeths thoughts. Lastly, Macbeth uses false information to convince two men to kill

This is where the theme of manhood begins to expand and deepen. This phrase suggests that to be a true man , not only do you have to be brave and strong but you need to have other qualities, that though they may not seem manly, are the qualities a real man would have. It is at this point that we know Macbeth's manhood is beginning to slip away. This is the scene where we see Macbeth as less of a true man, which escalates as the play continues. Macbeth also does something interesting after finding the body.
