King is the highest honor someone could have during this time, with that comes respect and loyalty. The king is highly venerated and held at almost a holy standard. One would expect that someone who loves their country would also love their king. Often times the reason for someone not liking their king is the way they rule. Speaking in terms of the play Macbeth, Duncan-the king of Scotland- rules justly and fairly, but he still has plenty of traitors within his group of trusted men. Macbeth only becomes Thane of Cawdor, because of a traitor, but he himself later becomes a traitor. In the beginning it was easy for Macbeth to fight for his king and to honor the name of the man who ruled his land, but once he finds out his future, his entire mindset changes. With help from his wife, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth plan a murder and with a little hoaxing from his wife, Macbeth pulls it off. The King plans to dine at the Macbeths’ mansion and plans to stay the night. Duncan feels safe going to stay in the castle of someone who protected him just hours before, but he does not know their fatal plan. The plan involves getting the guards of the king’s room drunk and planting the bloody murder weapon next to them. This will make it look like Macbeth has nothing to do with the treasonous act of killing the ruler. “Why did you bring these daggers from the place? They must lie there. Go carry them and smear The sleepy grooms with blood” (Shakespeare II. ii. 61-64). Macbeth brings the daggers to their room and lady Macbeth is upset that he has not followed the plan, and he risks people seeing it was him who committed

Analyse how a relationship was used to explore the idea of loyalty, and conversely, betrayal. Loyalty is a fundamental virtue as it holds the structure of society through establishing trust between individuals. To be loyal to someone is to show them the utmost devotion, and the cost of breaking this trust, betrayal, irrevocably damages both parties involved. William Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth, explores the themes of loyalty and betrayal by showing the decline of a man so consumed by ambition that he goes to extreme lengths to achieve his goal, betraying himself and those close to him, only to lose sight of himself and his values before the end. A relationship that is used to explore these themes explicitly is between Banquo, a Scottish nobleman
The Thane of King Duncan, Macbeth hears a prophecy that he himself will become king later on in the future after King Duncan. This then leads to Macbeth being overcome by greed. Since Macbeth greeds to be king so bad, he murders King Duncan and takes his place of the throne. Macbeth is so confident in the prophecies that his life comes to a downfall and he gets killed by the people he did wrong.
Throughout the Tragedy of Macbeth, we see several changes that Macbeth goes through. From the beginning, Macbeth is depicted as a hero and a valiant soldier. However as the novel continues, his character changes dramatically from a champion to a tyrant. After winning a battle, Macbeth is given the title of Thane of Cawdor. This sparks his ambition to do whatever it takes to remain in power.
Throughout the play loyalty, spite and betrayal was the main catalyst seen in the characters and the story. Banquo was a man who got a prophecy from three witches. “Macbeth will be a thane, Macbeth will be king and Banquo's sons will be kings.”, and some people didn't like that. There once was a great and loved king, and he got killed because of jealousy and spite. Also, a family murdered because of loyalty to the wrong mind.
