It is truly a great honor to be considered as a potential member of one of the most prestigious organizations in the country. The National Honor Society (NHS) is founded on three pillars: leadership, service, and character. These pillars are what every member of the NHS abides by daily. I believe I exemplify what the NHS was created for and would be a great addition to the organization. Leadership is a core part of what the NHS is all about. I have been able to exhibit my leadership skills through the Boy Scouts of America. I first joined Boy Scouts when I was only in 7th grade. I had no idea what the organization did or what they were known for. Nevertheless, I quickly realized how important Boy Scouts was to its community and also to my …show more content…
Every person is not the same; we all have something unique about ourselves that brings us closer in some way. I truly believe that every person can create their own future, but I know some people may need a guide to see the light toward their future. My friends always tell me how reliable I am to them; I act as their go-to person since I am willing to listen to their concerns. I communicate with them how to approach and handle situations, using prior experiences and knowledge I have gained, to ensure they are as successful as possible. The wisdom I obtained is largely due to my father. My father always told me to live my life to the fullest and always strive to go above and beyond, something I try to adhere to daily. He has been giving me life lessons and lectures since I was a baby that I thought were useless and repetitive, but I understood the importance of those lessons as I matured throughout my life. I understand that everyone’s childhood was different, and they may not have been as fortunate as I was to have someone act as a role model for them like my father is to me. Hence, I try to pass the wisdom my father gave to me to others around me so they can hopefully steer the ship in the right direction. I want to continue passing the lessons I learned to others around me and individuals in my community, and I believe being part of the NHS gives me the best opportunity to do

Sean Nelson Grade: 10 Nicolet High School National Honor Society Application The National Honor Society is an organization created with the intent to acknowledge high school students who implement important values into their lives. The five pillars of the National Junior Honor Society (scholarship, service, citizenship, leadership, character) have shaped my middle school experience as well as my perspective in life. Scholarship, the first pillar, has significantly affected my time in middle school. To me, scholarship is a dedication to learning, even if it means sacrificing entertainment or pleasure. I think that the discipline of scholarship is something that I should pursue even after school is over because there is no limit to the knowledge you can learn. It has changed my view of my classes and elevated my learning capacities.
Service, leadership, character, and scholarship; these are the fundamentals that the National Honor Society has based themselves on. I, as a student at Forney high school, am going to try and live up to each of these standards in hopes of joining the NHS. My qualifications may be unique; however, I believe that I fit the requirements in order to become a member. Service, how have I served or can be of service. When it comes to the topic of service most think of community service or serving a table.

Every week I spend time at the Morristown Medical Center as a volunteer, where I am able to help keep things functioning in the hospital at the highest speed possible and hopefully brighten a few patients’ days. Also, I’ve enjoyed helping refereeing youth basketball games for the past two seasons and being able to talk with the kids. It is a great opportunity to give back to a program which gave me so much in the five years I played in it when I was younger. Furthermore, I am excited for even more opportunities to have an impact on my community which being a part of National Honor Society would aid in.
It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.

Today I am deeply humbled to be recognized as a potential member of the National Honor Society. To me this means I have exemplified everything you look for in a student who goes above and beyond, not just in academics but in athletics, the community and at home as well. I have not taken this selection for granted, as I believe would be a great asset to the National Honor Society. I am hardworking, honest, reliable and quite charismatic too. I hold all the qualities required by the distinguished NHS like leadership, service, character and scholarship.
I am deeply honored and humbled to be among the brilliant and best students who are being considered for the NHS. I have been looking forward to this opportunity since I was accepted at Brophy. I know that National Honor Society does great things in our world today. I was a part of National Junior Honor Society at Saint Theresa Catholic School and that that has had a huge impact on the person I am today. I believe that I exemplify the four pillars of National Honors Society, those being character, scholarship, leadership, and service.
This definition of Leadership is best restated by my very own father “A person can demonstrate leadership skills even when not in a leadership position.” Throughout my high school years so far, I have demonstrated leadership mostly in the field of Boy Scouting in two different Troops. I started out my leadership trail in Boy Scouting by becoming a Troop Scribe who as per se the Boy Scout Handbook, 2016 Edition “The Scribe attends and keeps a log of patrol leaders’ council meetings. He records attendance and dues payments of all troop members and records advancement in troop records and on the troop advancement chart.” After that, I ascended into becoming a Patrol Leader and then acting as a Senior Patrol Leader, the highest youth leader of the troop, handling all patrols’ affairs and coordinating with the Scoutmaster for advice and consent.
The different programs that provide leadership opportunities for youth that really stood out to me are the National Youth-Serving Organizations. These are programs like Boy/Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA, Big Brother/Big Sisters. All of these types of programs were huge in my life growing up and I think that the Boys and
Still, my leadership skills were developed even more in the organizations I joined throughout the years. With this in mind, the organization that influenced me the most is Girl Scouts. I have been in Girl Scouts for fourteen years, and since I am the oldest Girl Scout in Paulding County, the leaders expect me to teach the younger girls everything I
