Flyboys Movie Analysis

The goofy comedy film, The Waterboy, introduces a story about Bobby Boucher, who is played by one of the most well-known New Hampshire actors, Adam Sandler. This film was directed by Frank Coraci, in 1998, and distributed by Touchstone Pictures. This film depicts a person with a disability conveying lifestyles, tropes, and a message that may be questionable. Bobby is a young man who has dedicated his life to being the world’s best water boy a football team can have. He has a high pitched voice, is white and skinny.

The three movies – Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, and The Green Berets – are all movies based on the same historical event – the Vietnam war and US’s involvement in it. Yet, they all presented us with different and narrative point of view and authority figures in order to paint their individual values. The movies’ most obvious differences lie within the choice of their narrative point of view. The Green Beret, the earliest one, was directed by John Wayne and he also starred in the leading role. Wayne’s authority and influence in the 1960s was similar to the influence of Tom Hanks in the 21st Century.

The Unbeatable Souls The Lost Battalion is based totally on a real story of an American battalion that was sent out to battle during the World War I. Major Charles Whittlesey, a New York lawyer, who ends up in the trenches of France having under his command mostly young, unexperienced men. When Whittlesey and his battalion of five hundred men are ordered to advance into the Argonne Forest they find themselves surrounded by Germans troops when the other battalions instantly withdrew, leaving Whittlesey’s battalion on his own. Confined behind enemy lines, Whittlesey’s battalion turned into the only force in the German army’s plans to move forward. Trapped and with no other way to rescue, Whittlesey is given an opportunity to surrender, but chose to continue fighting and keep his men together.

The show Band of Brothers was produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks who, at the time, recently had success with a World War II film entitled Saving Private Ryan. Spielberg and Hanks used their expertise on war films to craft the exceptional television series Band of Brothers which originally aired on HBO in 2001. The show follows “Easy” Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, of the 101st Airborne Division, from the moment they begin their training to the moment their deployment ends. Throughout the show we see the men of “Easy” Company mature a thousand times over. The men experience love, loss, and death at rate that is inconceivable to someone that has never experienced the theatre of war.

First off, the difference in color of German aircrafts versus the colors of the French aircrafts that they flew. In Flyboys, most of the Germans flew red aircrafts while the French were mainly seen in grey aircrafts, this was mainly for the reason of the audience being able to tell them apart. In WW1, most of the fighter planes used by the German and the French were very similar in color and harder to tell the difference between (Aerial Warfare). Another inaccuracy in the aircrafts is that the ones used in Flyboys had radial engines rather than what they actually had during WW1 which were rotary engines. When the aircrafts are shown flying the engine case was not moving along with the propellor which shows that they were radial engines.

There were two types of pilots. There you had the red tails and red angels. The red tails were the ones whom fought for their freedom. The red angels were non-profit international volunteer.

In the second section of the book, “Unbroken”, the author talked a lot about the experiences of the crew that Louie was with when he joined the army. Louie ended up with Phil and several other men to form a crew with their plane, a B-24 model, which they named “Superman”. They were all great pals who went through thick and thin together, but they believed the chance of survival was slim. One day, they barely managed to get it back to home base on one mission when the enemy relentlessly attacked their plane. However, one crew member was beyond help and several more had injuries that rendered them unsuitable for battle, their plane was also unrepairable.

The late 19th century consisted of rigid work hours for children, the growth of strikes, and the use of yellow journalism. It was a challenging time for anyone below the upper class to live in. This is demonstrated throughout Newsies, a Broadway Musical displaying the challenges from this time period. Child labor, a major part of the movie, was the way of life and consisted of young children doing hard work as a vital part of the nation’s economy and income of families of the time. Another part of the movie, strikes, were the people’s way of refusing to work as a result of not getting their desires.

Boyhood is a 2014 American drama film directed and written by Richard Linklater. It is a coming of age story. The film was created over 12-year span with the same people. It includes among 2002-2013. Basically, the movie is about a young boy named Mason and his family.

Ethical challenges are of universal span; many people including police officers are confronted with the opportunities for violating organizational rules and norms daily. Most of the stories about police officers in the media, including Cops and Criminal Minds, are about respectable police officers, but the intense 2001 movie Training Day is not. Alonzo Harris, a veteran police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), is training Jake Hoyt, a rookie officer on his first day with the narcotics unit. Harris’ character is an example of police officers’ potential for corruption. In William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies, he created this book about a group of proper british boys to show that even the most civilize of all can turn inhuman and go savage. Also being in the war helped Golding to see what people were capable of even if they were good at heart. The themes in Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies, were influenced by his childhood, his experiences in the war, and his view of human nature. Golding’s early life influenced the theme in Lord of the Flies.

O Brother Where Art Thou? is a film that will take you on a perilous journey with Ulysses Everett McGill and his simpleminded cohorts. This film may be set amidst the early 1930’s Great Depression era, but it still has a Homer’s Odyssey feel to it. Down in the dusty and highly racial south, Everett recruits a couple of dimwitted convicts, Pete Hogwallop and Delmar O’Donnell, to help him retrieve his lost treasure and make it back home before his wife marries another suitor.

Boyhood embodies coming of age where the director Richard Linklater with Mason Junior, Olivia (Mason’s mother), Mason senior (Mason’s father and Olivia’s ex-husband), Samantha (Mason’s sister) builds an emotional saga which enumerates individual emotions and relationships. Linklater made film history by shooting the motion picture for 4-5 days (consistently) for the traverse of 12 years just to draw out the progression of time. Boyhood is an intimate movie which covers relationships between children and parents, adolescence, and child psychology, and further exemplifies the development of a six year old boy to an eighteen year old man, where the characters go through a series of emotional and physical changes, Mason’s voice drops, he grows taller, his parents grow older, you can feel the adolescence oozing out of the two

Throughout life we are told to express our individuality and swim against the stream of the general population to put emphasis on the characteristics that make us, in short, individuals. Cherishing what makes an individual special and different is what establishes roots in creativity and self expression, however there is a forced false sense of comradery in today’s society that takes the form of involvement with the masses; peer pressure forces many people to fall into the mold of an average character. The Academy award winning film, “The Incredibles” displays the themes of expressing one’s true self and special qualities, and in contrast repression by society to fit a basic mold. These themes are elaborated on through the development of the main characters and expressed further through the supporting roles and their dialogue and endeavors.
