A more effective and viable solution would be to make upcoming police officers go through more training to become a police officer. “generally, agencies require a high school diploma or an equivalent for entry-level positions” (GoPoliceEnforcemt), and “The duration of the training in the Police Academy varies for the different agencies. It usually takes about 13 to 19 weeks on average but can last up to six months” (GoPoliceEnforcment). Officers do not get enough training to become officers. “depending on the specific nursing program that you enroll in, it could take anywhere from 16 months to four years to become a registered nurse” (Regis College). Therefore, if police officers are forced to get a larger education they will be more prepared and know when violence is right and when violence is wrong. Another positive is that if an officer does something like kill another person the officer can not use the fact that they are young and immature or didn't know any better as an excuse to get out of the crime that they did, and they will be forced to comply with the punishment because they have the education of that level. The problem with this solution is that you may get less and less officers wanting to become a police officer due to the money and time that would be required to become one. Another negative side effect is that making officers go through education would not stop some of them from going out of their way to kill other
