When I was younger I was super self conscious of my teeth and the way they made my smile look. Once I stepped into the Orthodontist office and saw the magic my orthodontist could work on my teeth, I knew that I wanted to do the same for children once I grew up. An orthodontist is someone who specializes in the correction of crooked teeth by using braces. I chose this career because I want to be able to help kids have perfect smiles the way my orthodontist did for me. I think it would be amazing to transform my clients crooked smiles into something beautiful. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making this decision. Orthodontist offices or clinics are located in urban areas where they can be easily accessible to their clients. People that are self-employed will make their own hours, but people employed under someone else typically work 30 to 40 hours a week (“Orthodontist Salary”). I personally do not want to have my own orthodontist office, because I do not want the responsibilities that come along with owning my own business. On a daily basis, an orthodontist may take ex-rays, make treatment plans, put on braces, take off braces, tighten the braces, and change out wires. Each day …show more content…
They need to be able to look at a patient’s teeth and figure out a treatment plan that would work best for that particular patient. Also, communication skills are key. As an orthodontist you need to be able to clearly speak to your clients along with your coworkers to be successful. Patience is also an important trait an orthodontist needs to possess. Crooked teeth aren’t going to fix over night, and maybe not even a year, so they have to be patient to get the result they want. I think working with people and communicating with groups of people will prepare me for this
Most dentist offices are looking for master’s degrees, bachelor being the lowest. People want experienced workers, ones who know what they’re doing. In Mississippi, there are only a small variety of places you can go to study dental hygiene. Dental school is a good option to get all the certificates you need and and course studies you would need to join like anatomy, physiology, nutrition, radiography, and pathology. The first career I researched was dental hygienist. A dental hygienist is someone who cleans patient’s mouth, checks for and educates patients about mouth diseases, and take x-rays of the mouth. I chose to research this career because over the past year or so I became curious about this career. In my research I found many dental hygienist work at least two jobs because dentists hire them to work part time.
This profession fits best with my lifestyle because I plan on having new friends, living around the Joplin area and I love helping people feel their best and boosting their confidence. Personality is a big thing with a career like dentistry you are always interacting, and meeting new people and you have to learn how to treat people and act in front of them. I could personally contribute kindness and facts that I have learned to make it a better occupation and make people want to come back. In conclusion, I want the occupation that I plan on going into to be dentristie and in this field I plan on becoming a dental hygienist.
Being that I have great qualities such as being comfortable with close personal interaction, easy to talk to, trustworthy, a detail-oriented person, a leader, excited about the profession of dentistry, passionate about providing care to those in need and much more , I feel that this career is for me.
Since the age of 14 I knew being a cosmetologist was what I wanted to do I have always been very passionate about beauty I have always enjoyed the feeling of doing someone's hair or nails one of my favorite things was watching my friends faces after I did a manicure and how they love the designs and them being so amazed at my great work. It is such a great feeling to make someone feel that way. I have had numerous people tell me a cosmetology is my calling. But I already knew that. I could sit here and go on and on about everything I love about cosmetology but that would be a very long essay.

Coming from a different culture but still embracing the Christian values that Loma Linda University emphasizes, I believe that my unique background and personal experiences distinguish my application from others. Growing up in Egypt, where the gap between social classes is significant, my parents always stressed the need to prioritize service into my life encouraging me to dedicate time in volunteering and helping others. As a result, my experience has grown from volunteering to serve as a camp leader for orphans in the summer to participating in international dental service trips. These involvements would allow me to use my skills in organizing missions trips at Loma Linda. Being a Coptic Orthodox Christian enables me to add diversity to the
After reading Million Dollar Dentistry by Gray Kadi, I learned that the traditional way of dentistry practice is stressful and you are leaving so much money on the table if you continue to practice dentistry the old fashion way. Also I learned that if you use Mr. Kadi suggestion you will be living a happier and stress-free life. One of the biggest take-away I got after reading this book is “when everyone is responsible for everything, no one is truly responsible for anything.” I really like this concept, it gives everyone in their roles accountability and incentives to bring in new/returning patients. For example, the treatment coordinator he/she is responsible for closing the case after the patient comes out of hygiene.
A specialist in this field is called an orthodontist. Orthodontists receive two or more years of education beyond their four years in dental school in an ADA-approved orthodontic training program. How do I Know if I Need Orthodontics?Only your dentist or orthodontist can determine whether you can benefit from orthodontics. Based on diagnostic tools that include a full medical and dental health history, a clinical exam, plaster models of your teeth, and special X-rays and photographs, an orthodontist or dentist can decide whether orthodontics are recommended, and develop a treatment plan that 's right for you.
Not only do crooked or gapped teeth contribute to anxiety also yellowing and visible cavities make people hesitant to do simple things. Things that dental assistants do to help people be more confident in their smiles are whitening and cleaning teeth. I would be able to give people a whiter, fresher, and more healthy smile without them having to go under anesthesia unless they needed something like a root canal. I love to help people, by being an assistant versus an actual dentist, I would be the person who knows the patient the best and would be with them from the time they are to the time they leave. Essentially, I would be the person to do everything but perform a procedure on the patient, including, taking pictures of their teeth, x-rays, cleaning, whitening, and asking the questions about their oral health.
Ever since I was young, dentistry had sparked my interest for my career. Dentistry appeals to me chiefly because I had always wanted to be involved in a profession where I can help people. My love towards human biology especially human teeth also contributes to my career choice. Most importantly, I find human teeth interesting, often fascinating. Due to my compassionate nature, I have since long known that I would want to pursue dentistry as my career because I get to form relationships with my patients, work hand in hand with many people on a face to face basis.
