It is clear that John Wyndham wrote The Chrysalids as a warning for today’s society, based on the comparisons that are drawn between the society of Waknuk, the Old People, Sea land, and our current society. More specifically, the current technological advancements, the existence of fundamentalist groups, and the slowly changing concept of “freedom of speech”. The events of Tribulation serve as a warning to today’s society. Many current day countries have nuclear weaponry, chemical weaponry, bombs, and other massively destructive tools at their disposal. Comparably, the Old People had very advanced technology and the reader knows that a nuclear war has taken place based on the existence of such extreme mutations seen in both plants and people.

Anacostia is a historic neighborhood in Washington DC, located east of the Anacostia River. First appearing on the oldest map of Capitan John Smith, Anacostia was once home to a Native American tribe called Nacotchtank. These natives often referred to themselves as Anaquashtanks, which means trading village in their native language, Algonquian. Anacostia once served as a prime located as a trading port for natives and settlers in the 1600’s. However, Anacostia’s significance faded away, it is no longer know for its trading ports but for its high crime and poverty rates in the District.

The Asteroidea class, also known as the sea stars, has many common characteristics. Firstly, all sea stars have flat, star-shaped bodies as well as a central disc with radiating arms/rays protruding out. Typically, seastars has five arms but certain species can have up to fifty arms! The size of the sea stars is not consistent through the different species therefore varies from one centimeter to three feet. The skeletal system is a key aspect for the survival of a sea stars.

The consumers are cassowary, insects, ulysses, butterflies, whichetty grub, spotted cuscus, sugar glider, goanna, azure kingfisher, and feral pigs. Lysistrata, by the Greek writer Aristophanes, tells a Greek comedy set in ancient Greek times around 411 B.C. The story places us in Athens were there is a war against the Athens and Spartans. This war was a long one and the wives were missing their men. Soon women grew tired of the war. A women named Lysistrata took it upon herself to take action against the war.

Australian Giant Cuttlefish are in the following taxons, being ordered largest to smallest, Animalia, Mollusca, Cephalopoda, Sepioloida,Sepiidae,Sepia, lastly Apama. Their scientific name is, Sepia apama coming from their genus and species. Sepia apama is found about 100 meters under water around the southern coasts of Australia and Tanzania, in the seagrass beds of these coastal waters. Sepia apama typically eat small like crabs organisms called, crustaceans, and small fish. Sepia apama has predators in its own environment and hides from predators in an unusual way.

The union of both sexes is a notable metaphor in both “Symposium” and “Lysistrata”; however, the nature of the love between the sexes draws a distinction between both works. In Symposium, Aristophanes described how both sexes were so powerful when united; and when they were separated, human beings still strived to be united once more by any means. On the other hand, in Lysistrata the characters were already married and united; however, women found their true strength when they started a psychological war on their men. Even though both works drew the readers’ attention to the need for love, Symposium emphasizes the union of sexes in a way that the characters in Lysistrata will never reach; where love is not only about sex and physical attraction, but it’s also about a healthy relationship occupied with affection and caring.

Bass are a predatory fish, this means that they have to eat other living animals to survive. To hunt, bass will hide in structure, such as a submerged log, or some grass and ambush their prey. When their prey swims by the fish will swim out quickly and eat the food. Bass will eat anything that swims, they will eat minnows, crawfish, frogs,worms and even mice and ducklings that fall into the water. Bass will also eat other fish and sometimes lizards that fall into the water.

The book The Chrysalids is a unique book with suspense, mystery, and different ways of how people view life. With every good book comes a catchy title like “The Chrysalids” but, what does the title mean? How does it relate to the story being told? Personally, I don’t know the meaning of chrysalids although it’s a very interesting word and so simple so it must have some meaning to the book. The book has a very unique storyline with an intriguing title, but what is the true meaning behind the title?

They both effect the play or movie immensely. Sometimes it may work but sometimes it may not. Anagnorisis is a moment in a play or any other work when a character makes a critical discovery.

Medea is a Greek Tragedy Play written by Euripides. The play takes place in Corinth, Greece. A nurse in this play explains the events and what mainly lead to the crisis in this play. Previously, Medea and Jason achieved many adventures and she was the one who helped him secure the Golden Fleece, by killing her brother, and she also fled her country and family for Jason. She and Jason had two sons together, and settled in Corinth, where they gained a respectable reputation.
