Greek life in Canada (mostly Ontario) is how I would assume it would be in the states however in Quebec it is much different. At Bishop’s the only Greek Life we have is Alpha Phi, there are no other Sororities or Fraternities on campus. We just celebrated our 25th anniversary in November (at my initiation). There used to be another sorority Alpha Delta Pi at Bishop’s but that was long before my time, recently someone that works on campus told us that they found some of their pins years ago and was wondering if they were ours, it turned out they belonged to Alpha Delta Pi but because of this a lot of us (especially us newer members) started doing research on them.

Joining the sisterhood of Kappa Kappa Gamma has enhanced my life in many ways. Throughout the past year, I not only met the friends that will be with me for the rest of my life, but met the people I call family. Every member of this sisterhood has encouraged me to be a better version of myself. In particular, this past semester, living in the chapter house and being surrounded by this amazing family throughout most of my day has increased by GPA, improved my mental and physical health, and decreased the stress that comes with being in college.

The motto for Phi Beta Kappa was “Love of wisdom, guide of life.” This fraternity was men and women connecting to fill each student’s life up with something meaningful, they volunteered, and threw safe gatherings around campus. Have fraternities’ really changed

Arriving on campus just six months ago, I was not considering being a part of Student Government Association. Now, I am the first-year class president, and I have grown so much through being in that leadership position. I would have never considered being a part of fraternity life, because of the negative stereotypes. Now, I am a part of a fraternity, and it is one of the most encouraging and uplifting communities I have ever been a part of. I did not do competitive Speech and Debate in high school, now I am a college level debater, and I will be competing in national in March.

What I should’ve done instead was to attend class every single day and 15 minutes prior to the regular time class starts, to make sure I have all my materials ready before the professor arrives and to grab the front row seat. This will improve my grades because I will be less distracted, talk less, and have hand written notes to study. I also plan to exclude myself from too much parties because I have a lot on my plate and these are first on my priority list, and are the most important. Partying can wait till after graduation. The clubs will always be there, the frat house will always be there, and people and music will always be there; what’s not always going to be there is my education, as long as I’m attending school, I will not participate in such activities because it’ll hinder my education

When asked to express why I should be awarded the honor & pleasure of being apart this great sorority; I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed but also very humbled. On October 1, 2015 Alexis and I attended “Greek Life.” The performances were so amazing. Before I was enrolled into college I was so excited to see sorority and fraternity battles and performances. Seeing videos of the fraternities and sororities dancing all over the internet made me more excite to be a part of a University. I will always remember these performances.

Explain your interest in joining Phi Delta Epsilon-MA Alpha Chapter. * I want to join Phi Delta Epsilon because it would provide me the chance to build lifelong connections and gain networking opportunities.
