From approximately 1000 - 1600 CE, Samurai and knights were fierce and loyal warriors who fought for their country. Knights were in Europe while Samurais were in Japan. Without samurais and knights, the world would be in a different place then where it is now. It has been shown that animation can be a potent tool for narrative, not just for humorous effects but also for tackling difficult subjects. It is a distinctive and significant program because of its capacity to tackle important themes through animation. The program has addressed topics in a way that is both educational and interesting. The Simpsons, thanks to the use of animation, has been able to depict complicated ideas and situations in a way that would be challenging for live-action television. Other animated series can now imitate The Simpsons and tackle important topics while still amusing viewers.

Nicole Aldana FHS 215 Karrie Walters October 28, 2015 Site Report: Boys and Girls Club The human service organization I chose for this assignment was the Boys and Girls Club of Emerald Valley. While there were a number of equally amazing organizations on the list, it really came down to my personal experience with this institute. During my senior year of high school, I made it a goal to partake in as many community service opportunities as I could. Coming from a big city, there was no shortage of these and after a few months of searching it led me to the Boys and Girls Club and a few other non-profits.

Is there someone in your life who wants to make a change? Teen activism is about people who believe and stand up for what is right. Teen activists try to change the world with their words. They are believers and they are amazing and brave. Many teen activists like Malala Yousafzai, Alex Libby, Iqbal Masih are all great activists and they each fight for something different.

You sit in your home and visit with no one.” Staring into the television screen, zoned out and mesmerized, our minds are living the life of the characters in the movie or TV show. Studying pop culture may allow us to understand trends in culture that can aid in other society-based careers, as well as study societal and power constructs with greater accuracy. As technology and media develops further and further, pop culture should be studied in academia, as it is a relevant way to examine the moral constructs of the society and understand trends in culture. Literature Review Since this work aims to take on a new approach to fandom studies, namely putting male idols under the framework of affective labor and focusing on the emerging relationships between fans and idols, several theories need to be addressed in this section. At first people were skeptical, and very few people really liked anime, therefore creating the American Otaku stereotype. The word Otaku means ‘fan’ or ‘fangirl/fanboy’ when it comes to defining the stereotype.

Because of its commonality, popular culture both reflects and influences the people’s way of life; because it is linked to a specific time and place, popular culture is transitory, subject to change, and often and initiator of change. Since it affects every people’s life, it is a hard task for us, aspiring teachers to be the artisan of the Filipino youth for we are the one who will mould their character and through this powerful tool, we can be able to manage smoothly if we have enough knowledge about this. Popular culture and fictional entertainment media have an enormous influence on society. Whether in the genre of television sitcom or drama, or fictional stories in popular film, the entertainment media teach us something about ourselves as we map new meaning onto our own experience based on what we see and relate to; for good or for ill, it also teaches us a lot about others through fictional means (Tisdell, 2004).
