I attended a Nashville Irish Stepdancers performance at the Texas Troubadour Theater. The theater was in the middle of a strip mall in Orpy Mills. The inside was setup with pews and had a very medieval essence. The performance was to be a celebration of the Irish culture and include the vibrant spirit of the heritage. In the program, the choreographer and founder of the Nashville Irish Step Dancers, Mary Moran, said that the show not only highlights traditional pieces, such as the jig and treble reel, but also explores more progressive styles of Irish dance and music.
By taking dance to unfamiliar territories and greatly experimenting with innovative partnering techniques, Pilobolus has created an original style of dance that continues to grow in popularity. The style of the company not only challenges the boundaries of dance, but also the capabilities of the human body. The way the company utilizes technology in the making and showing of its pieces is revolutionary in the realm of modern dance. By mixing acrobatics and drama with different styles of dance, Pilobolus has paved the way for a new branch of dance. For example, after the company’s rise in popularity, groups similar to the company, such as Cirque de Soleil and Elizabeth Streb, emerged (“Ballet-Dance Magazine “Fungi Form”:
The dance itself was not about showing off, but more for a desired sense of smoothness and rhythmic grace between partners. Many variations were made on the dance floor between partners, depending on the music, which was usually a sweet jazz -a moderate to slow tempo with a smooth, mellow sound. One of the variations created, formed a whole other style of dance, the Toddle. It’s called the Toddle because of how “young people took to throwing their arms and legs in the air with reckless....hopping or ‘toddling’ every step in the Foxtrot”

Shall We Dansu? (1996) follows Mr. Sugiyama, a Japanese accountant who goes on a secretive and intimate journey into the world of ballroom dance. Both Mambo Girl and Shall We Dansu? emphasize the close relationship between intimacy and Latin dance by linking Kailing and Mr. Sugiyama’s manners of dancing Latin to the emotional connection each has with other characters.
On November 26, 2016, I attended the Emerald City Theatre Company production of Charles M. Schulz play Charlie Brown Christmas. The production of the play was great for the children who were in attends of the play. The production took away the 4th wall. Which help the children of the audiences be a part of the play a couple of times. Still, it 's a good and time-efficient choice for family members who are used to the animated Charlie Brown and wanting it to be the same as the TV special.

On November 28th, 2015 I attended Ben Stevenson’s version of The Nutcracker which was being performed by the Houston Ballet at the Wortham Theater Center. The dance featured two separate acts and multitude of dances as well as a live orchestra. The Nutcracker demonstrated the ability to unleash a multitude of emotions as well captivate its audience with music composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky of the Romantic era, usage of modern technologies and techniques such as lighting and special effects, as well as its wide variety of dance types such as solo dances, pas de deux, and large group dances with a focus on a central figure or couple. Despite dance being the primary subject, it is necessary to note the performance of the orchestra of Tchaikovsky’s
Without the dramatic gestures and vitality of the dancers, the overall story of the piece would not have been portrayed as well. Fokine masters the production’s storyline by developing emotion into inanimate objects. The puppets’ ability to convey such an intense amount of feelings such as happiness, love, and jealousy motivates their actions in their dancing. Petrushka’s failed pursuit of the Ballerina clearly agonizes him and his ability to ever be with her. Thus, his way of dancing showcases his jealousy and defeat.
