In the police force, humans are not the only ones putting their lives on the line to protect the rights of average citizens. Another creature that helps police officers with their jobs is dogs. Dogs have been used by humans for police work for a very long time. To some people, it should be normal to use dogs in police work. To other people, using dogs in law enforcement is wrong in many ways. But through all the reasons that both sides state, it is safe to say that dogs should be continued to be used by the police. One reason that dogs should continue to be used in the police force is because they can fulfill many roles that a human is not able to, or would have a very hard time fulfilling. But back to the dogs. Dogs are usually called up to assist law enforcement. Roles that dogs are called up to do are usually roles such as detaining suspects, pursuing suspects, either by scent or by sight. Other roles that they can fulfill is detecting illegal substances, such as drugs or bombs. The way the dog is able to detect bombs is because of the gunpowder in the gun. Dog bans have been a controversial issue in modern years. Some believe that action needs to be made to protect humans from certain aggressive dog breeds and others believe that attacks result from poor care. The author of “Dog Ban Only Solution to Attacks” expresses his opinion on supporting the bans. He supports this using several cases of anecdotal evidence and quotes, and tends to get emotional in several paragraphs. The article wasn’t very well written in my personal opinion and I disagree with his support for banning specific dog breeds.

They are expected to help the police and even are recommended by the government. If I was in charge they would not be in such a high power, so we would need to change the behaviors of the current and future police. This could be done by providing extra training and a more in depth education. To really ensure a long term change, we would also have to recruit and hire more law enforcement. I would have each officer in a different specialty to really excel at their job because many people do not believe the police are doing their job or if so they are not doing it well.
