The Civil War on the other hand, was a period in American history that was marked by great inflation, on both sides of the conflict. Both the Union and Confederacy were faced with the urgent need to generate large quantities of funds to pay for the exorbitant costs involved in prosecuting the ongoing war. Both governments then resorted to the same tactic in order to acquire the funds they so desperately needed to continue to fund their respective militaries. They simply printed more money as they needed in order to pay their outstanding debts. The difference, however, was that the Union’s currency was backed by a gold and silver standard.

This would enable them to produce more goods such as weapons or other highly demanded industrialization driven products. Another edge in mobilization that the Union had was the lack dependency on importing goods. The North had many advantages. They beat the South in population they could draw soldiers from. The North had 22 million citizens where the South only had 5.5 million citizens. The North could transport supplies and people faster because of their roads, canals, and railroads. However the South disconnected from itself with barely any railroads and hard to move soldiers and goods from place to place.

Through the civil war, the union had three major that turned around the war and helped the union win. Transportation played a key role in allowing the Union to defeat the Confederate States of America. Transportation in the 1860’s was difficult, because it was fairly limited. Especially during the Civil War, with many people and communities wanting to use these things to transport goods or men wherever needed. One type that played a major factor were railroads, there was a major growth in the 1850’s so by 1861 there was 22,000+ miles of track in the northern states, and 9,500+ in the South (Railroads In The Civil War). Countries and town have always fought over who is to control the supply centers or railroads, but with the confederate government to slow to recognize the importance of them, they weren’t in good shape by 1963.

The Union had more railroad lines and they had the telegraph system. The telegraph system was a huge advantage for the Union because they could now send messages thousands of miles away in less than a minute. President Abraham Lincoln could now command the Union’s generals in the safety of his own office. The North had an excellent Navy that had the ability to blockade things that were headed to the Southern states. The South desperately needed food, weapons, and ammunition but weren’t able to get their supplies because the North had blockades that stopped the supplies they needed. The North also had gun factories, shipyards, and coal readily available at anytime which puts them at a huge advantage over the South. They had more money and were just more advanced in their industry, which helped them win the civil war.

What I think is that this story talks about the USA or the Union and the Confederacy, in the part that I am they are talking by the differences, the Union is the North, and the Confederacy is the South part, the Union of the North part is the one with 23 states and more population of course, the Confederacy has just 11 states but they have a lot of slaves all about them is in the picture bellow. Other thing about this story is that in 1860 the elected president was Abraham Lincoln; moreover to be a president he was trying to resolve the fight between the Union and the Confederacy.
