Panama City, Panama is a country of the arts, from the formal monuments to the informal graffiti found on the walls of the street. Both of these artworks peaked my interest because of their historical value. The Laocoon Group sculpture and Theodora and Her Attendants are both beautiful pieces. San Vitale’s work is very detailed and the fact that it’s made from mosaic is even more impressive to me because I’m sure this took a while to complete. This picture represents one of my favorite times in history, the Roman Empire 527-565.
In the following paper, I will be discussing the similarities and differences between two paintings. These two paintings are Jean-Léon Gérôme’s Bashi-Bazouk and Lucas Cranach’s Saint Maurice. The Gerome dates to 1868-1869 and was created with oil paints on canvas. The Cranach dates 1520-1525 and was created with oil paints on linen.

Working the technique of oil on canvas, he expresses his emotions and feelings about his native country and the impact of the past on people’s psychological state. This topic gave him the opportunity to participate in a joint exhibition with other artists in the “Cremata” Gallery on 8th Street in Miami. Another relevant influence of Chucho’s art has been the Renaissance, especially after his 3-months trip to Europe, where he had the pleasure to enjoy that type of art on cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Valencia, Seville, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Venice, Florence, Vatican, Rome and Athens. This trip impregnated his art with the perfectionist and dedicated style of that time. Chucho likes to recreate on the small details that sometimes only God would look at it, but he spends time on each line, as it would be by itself a magnificent piece of art.
It’s one of the most treasured paintings in the world. When compared to the Italian standards, the panel is said to be very minor, but its regard is extensively expressed with respect to many other paintings that are said to be, in the ancient times, the most regarded.
Throughout my life I’ve had an admiration for the expression of human creativity, through outlets like music, literature, dance, and painting, Personally, I have and continue to express myself through music and dance, two passions of mine that have shaped my personality and identity. However, recently I’ve become increasingly interested in the painting aspect of art. Not my own art but for the appreciation of others, both ancient and modern. So when this assignment came to my attention, I approached it with honest interest and curiosity. The first step was to choose a museum.

Artwork is a form of self-expression from an artist based on life experience, or on something that the artist feels strongly about (Berenson, 87). The product of art can help others with similar experiences but not able to express the same feeling themselves. From the product of art, people can start drawing excitement, purpose as well as encouragement about the real thing being expressed. Through a piece of art, the artist can communicate a purpose, an emotion or an idea in their work. In this research paper, I compare two pieces of artwork; Madonna and child with the saints by Giovanni Bellini and Madonna and child with the two angels done by Fra Filippo Lippi.

Sick and tired from his uncontrolled lifestyle, he returned to his home in Livorno in 1909 and soon after he went to Paris where he rented a studio in Montparnasse. Initially, he saw himself as a sculptor, especially that Paul Guillaume, who was a young art trader, motivated him and introduced him to the sculptor Constantin Brâncusi who advised to study African faces. He did an exhibition in the Salon d’Automne of 1912 where he displayed eight elongated faces. By 1914, he stopped making sculptures and put all his focus on painting. He created a limestone carving of a woman’s head titled Tête, which became the third most expensive sculpture that has ever been sold in June 2010.
