Journal Review Article #1 The article that I chose was on how to prepare yourself for the dental hygiene national board exam from the RDH Magazine website. The website gives a lot of great tips for students preparing for boards. The author, Jane Weiner, talks about the actions a hygienist student should take to prepare for the boards starting from the first day of dental school. She then continues to say what students should do throughout their schooling, and then what to do when it comes to test day. The first tip that she mentioned was to be organized. Organization is important for anything. The more organized you are the less stressful things are. Another tip she mentioned was to have a separate notebook that had questions that instructors …show more content…
I thought to myself, how am I ever going to be able to study everything I need to for this exam! I really liked the idea of the notebook with board exam questions in it. I definitely plan on taking the board review course as well. I know the class costs a bit of money, but I think it will be worth it in the end. One thing I found interesting is that Jane Weiner suggested that we do not study the day before the test. I’m the type of person that likes to look things over one last time before a quiz or an exam, so that will be hard for me. When it comes to taking the test, I liked the idea of answering a chunk of questions then taking your eyes off the paper & stretch your hands and neck. With the exam being about 200 questions, I’ll definitely be using that last tip. Having to sit there for 4 hours taking a test, that is going to be a huge relief once it is done and I will also take Jane Weiner’s advice on going to do something fun afterwards. I can’t wait for the day that we all go in that testing room and ace that exam! I’m glad I found this website, because I will be using all the tips she

The purpose of this article was to assess dental hygienist beliefs on treating pregnant patients and assess the amount of education they have on the subject. Perinatal care among oral health care professionals has a focus since maternal periodontal disease was linked to preterm low birth weight babies. The authors wanted to examine hygienist views on the importance of oral care being apart of prenatal care, thoughts on treating pregnant patients, and knowledge level of appropriate procedures. Emails containing the questionnaire were sent to all Michigan Dental Hygiene Association members (MDHA).

Abstract The main goal in becoming a Dental Hygienist is being professional and knowledgeable in every aspect of dental hygiene. In dental hygiene, there are several professional roles one can choose from. Some of these roles include that of being an educator, researcher, entrepreneur, administrator, corporate, clinician, and public health. The scope of dental hygiene has evolved since it first became a profession in the 1900’s (Wilkins, Wyche, & Boyd 2017).
For example, she taught us about the MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory assessments. I did these assessments online and the reports I got back on them basically told me about the kind of person that I am and what my interests are. The MBTI assessment told me that I focus my attention on the outside world, I take in information through the senses, I make decisions based on my values, and I deal with the world with a flexible, open-minded approach. The Strong Interest Inventory suggested careers I may be successful in as well as information about my interests.
The most interesting part of her job I discovered was the amount of data she uses in coaching. She gave the example of a teacher seeking coaching in why their students’ class performance was weak. Michelle
So I did it… The test was as hard as I thought it would be. But I had every book fresh in my mind, and I aced it.
My goal is to get a B in that class and I am very confident I can achieve that. 3. I think I should be able to handle the workload this semester well. It’s pretty much what I was expecting when I decide to attend college. 4.
