We know there are people who don’t dare to take risks, while there are certain people out there who undertake crazy risks for many reasons. People undertake missions to make their/other's lives better. Real people like Farah Ahmedi and fictional people like Walt from "The King of Mazy May" and Aengus from "The Song of Wandering Aengus" went through hardships. The thing that was similar about them was that they all had unexpected things happen to them. Their journey to accomplish their goal was similar as well, since it went in a logical order.
Each of the characters have different goals they want to accomplish. Farah, for example, wanted to leave her country (for safety reasons). Walt's goal is to prevent mean coming to the Mazy May creek from claiming all the unclaimed claims. Aengus wants to find a girl who he saw/found while fishing. Not only did they have different goals, but they also had different challenges. It was hard for Farah to accomplish her goal because the people defending the gate would only let people cross if they had money, Walt put a dog unfit for being a leader as the lead dog so he could try to get to Dawson, making it harder for him. Aengus was trying to find a glimmering girl that escaped his reach.

They were all doing things that would change their lives. Another important thing to note is the fact that they knew if they undertook their goal and accomplished it, they would be rewarded greatly. In "The other side of the sky" Farah is rewarded with escaping her country and learning that human decency is a thing. Walt saves Loren Hall's claim and was "spoken of as the King of Mazy May". Knowing this, it proves that people do in fact undertake missions to better their/other's
Each of the main characters must be brave and overcome their fears to help save Hera. Jason must overcome the fear of losing his friends, by allowing his friends to fight for him, instead of him always trying to protect his friends by putting himself before them. Leo must face his childhood fear and use his pyrokinesis to help break the cage that Hera is trapped in. He is scared because he thinks that by using his pyrokinesis he will kill his friends. Piper must be brave and tell her friends that the giant, Enceladus, has her dad trapped, even though he said he will kill her dad if she told her friends.
For example in chapter ten Salva’s uncle dies, and even though ‘Marial and Uncle were no longer by his side, and they never would be again, but Salva knew that both of them would have wanted him to survive, finish the trip and reach the Itang refugee camp safely. If was almost as if they had left their strength with him, to help him on his journey.’ This shows how you must learn from the challenges you encounter on your journey, and continue to persevere. After many days of hardship and struggle, Salva and the group reach the fisherman's territory and are so starving that they must beg for food. In chapter 8 the text says, ‘None of the travelers had money or anything of value to trade, so they had to beg for food.’
When Hazel left for Efrafa after commander Holly returned with no does and horror stories of Woundwort, every rabbit that originally left the warren with Hazel follows him for the dangerous trek. However pressing the situation the rabbits find themselves in, they forge on the best they can. One of the best examples of the characters taking a terrible situation and making the best of it is when Bigwig is caught in a snare and instead
Chase followed in the footsteps of Shay and became a nicer person. Crash was very intimidating, but was influenced by Shay and showed much more kindness to people. Third, a character named Calloway who was extremely racist. Calloway didn't want to be with
His entire trip was a journey for him to find himself, and I think his bigger journey is when he left home and decided to travel and survive without giving notice to anyone. He felt misunderstood by his parents, and maybe he thought by leaving and surviving on his own that would somehow show them how he thinks and feels. He also had pent up feelings about his parents from the past that maybe he was trying to work through by leaving. Despite the fact that he dies, his ultimate goal was to convey some sort of art in fleeing with no money or job and attempting to survive on your own as a young adult. People hear his story and want to do what he did.
Chapter 1, Every Trip Is a Quest (Except When It's Not) The real reason why characters go on a journey is so they can find themselves and figure out who they are. Most of the time the journey in a story will be educational.
Some key and important characteristics he portrays along this journey includes his calling to adventure, crossing into the threshold,
The risk he faces is even greater than that with Grendel. The short story The Deep by Anthony Doerr is a great example of taking risk throughout life. Tom is born with a heart defect and is told that he won’t live past 18. Tom begins the story by being sheltered from the world by his mother. Throughout the story he learns what it means to live life because of a girl named Ruby Hornaday.
Amir risked his life for Sohrab, Hassan’s son, to repay the wrong he commits toward Hassan. The recurring theme of sacrifice for the ones you love is presented all throughout the novel through Hassan, Baba, and Amir. Hassan and Amir are divided by economic differences throughout their childhood.
While the other Wes Moore in the story, later on, grows up to choose a life of crime and violence leading him to go to prison. And a reason for them choosing completely different paths could be from who they had looked up to. And how they tried to protect them from the dangers of drugs and violence that was common to where they were from.
All three characters reap from their successes and failures and
Wilson shows that even those characters that seem lost in life and are taken advantage are the most wise. Those characters shouldn’t be seen different because they are the most influential characters since they know more than what they look like they
The connection between the relationships of Hassan and Amir and then Amir and Sohrab thrive off of the conflicts and the recurring motifs throughout the novel. Amir lived his redemiton and his loyalty through Sohrab, trying to make what he did to Hassan feel like less of a burden on his shoulders. There are many different ways for one to redeem themselves, but there is no better way to show loyalty than to be present in a time of
If We Should Die and Lilies of the Field were both stories that involved racism. Both characters from the stories, Will Harris and Homer Smith, had very similar experiences. They both had experienced some sort of discrimination. They were both very similar but had very different experiences based on their skin color. They had similar backgrounds and were encountering it around the same time frame.
Another character which was a motivational part in the novel was Sofia is the type of self-confident woman unlike Celie. She is an aggressive independent woman who helps Celie and marries Harpo. She won’t give up on anything or even from a fight and if anybody picks on her, she beats them twice as hard as they give it to her. According to Alice Walker, “The hardship Sofia endures serves as a reminder of the costs of resistance and the difficulties of combating cultural and institutional racism” (Walker). By the quote we can say this was an excellent way of saying that enduring the difficulties and tough life like Celie was going through makes the person even stronger to maintain all the hardships in life and to keep up saying no to people’s order.
