College Admissions Essay

Every day, multitudes of things are competing for our attention. Billboards line every street, commercials interrupt every enticing program, and our phones are constantly beckoning us to check them. And no, this is not the beginning of another trite piece of literature that is going to complain about how the growth of advertising and technological innovation is the decline of the human race. In fact, I embrace it. The world is changing, and with so much to be involved in, competition for our attention is healthy and necessary to keep things that we want to see accessible.

When I was younger, one of my favorite things to do was to hop in my grandpa’s old, red Chevy pickup and ride down to our family’s farm with him. We would spend all day doing various jobs including scouting crops. Each summer I would spend more time scouting crops with my grandpa. He would share stories about particular growing seasons that he remembered and he shared a vast amount of agronomic knowledge with me. Over time, scouting with my grandpa turned into a passion.

My desire to pursue an administration degree stems from my original call to the educational field. From a young age, I knew I loved the atmosphere of the classroom. However, it was not until high school that I truly got to spread my wings on an educational plane. Through organizations such as Key Club and National Honor Society, I was able to work with different community outreach programs and teach and assist at the Union Mission New Life Camp and be a teacher’s aid during College for Kids and Dyersburg Primary School.

I am delighted to be a part of the Early Decision 2 pool as Fairfield University is the only college I want to attend. Ms. Stanton had said you are interested in the particulars of what about Fairfield appeals to me such that I know my former statement to be true. There is no question I want to be a member of the Dolan School of Business’ impressive Marketing major focused on product design and management with an Entrepreneurship minor. Participating in a dual-degree program, to major in the former and minor in the latter, will bolster my practical education and, hopefully, make me a valuable contributor to society in truly unique ways.

In high school, I took my first computer science class and was hooked. I realized that writing code is extremely fun and rewarding when the code finally works. I joined the Computer Science club at my school to learn more logic and started learning Python. Still, my thirst for knowledge was not quenched. Over the summer I got accepted into the Program in Algorithmic and Combinatorial Thinking (PACT) course at Princeton University

Stephen Covey once said, “Every human has four endowments - self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom... The power to choose, to respond, to change.” This quote speaks to me on a personal level. In life there is always a time every individual is expected to grow into an independent, free human being.

My passion for mathematics began when I was in preschool. I clearly remember myself indulging in the pleasure of counting to one hundred. Every year since then, I found myself pushing more vigorously to grasp more complicated mathematical concepts. It wasn’t until my sophomore year in high school that I narrowed down my interests into applied mathematics. In my sophomore year of high school I took AP physics and chemistry concurrently.

After giving much thought on what I wanted to do in the future, I found University of California at Los Angeles to be an excellent stepping stone for my aspiration as a computer scientist. I’ve come to a decision to apply to UCLA because I wanted to follow in my brother’s footsteps as a computer scientist, and what better way to start, by applying to the same college that my brother attended and graduated. With the encouragement from my brother supporting me behind my back, I strongly believe that UCLA will widen my horizon, improve me as a person, and hope to have a glimpse of what my brother had experienced when he took his first step into the campus. My strongest traits to push through my aspirations is my confidence, passion, and hardwork.

I have always wondered how technology can be beneficial to mass people. The thought of inventing something that can help thousands of people has always fascinated me. That’s why, after completing my graduation in Computer Science, I had decided to pursue higher studies focusing on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). This thought that, by working in HCI, I will be able to design for people and the result of my hard work will bring about a positive impact on someone’s life, motivates me. HCI actually helps to bind people and technology together and this combination along with the satisfaction makes it an ideal research area for me.

My aspiration to pursue a Ph.D. at the Department of education in Bath University stems from several reasons. Firstly, I have always been passionate about teaching since a young age. Teaching has always appealed to me because I believe that teachers can greatly influence their students. Indeed, I personally had the privilege to be taught by inspirational teachers who were committed to motivating their students and tap into their potential. These teachers acted as role models and inspired me to become a teacher.

After I graduate from Bachelors’ degree of Computer Science in Information and Communication Technology, I require continuing my career part to master more knowledge which I am particularly keen to study at department of Computer Science or Information Technology. Otherwise, I desire to study in this career in aboard country due to the different of each country both teaching style, technique of teaching, content, working, and environment including people both in those countries and other which I wish to study in the several paths of learning and gain more deeply knowledge from the university and country where is the expert in Computer Science like your university. Hence, I am applying for a place on the Computing and Information Technology course at the University of St Andrews.

Adversity and change are inevitable: our perspectives shift, conflicts arise, and mistakes are made, but consequently, our minds grow and flourish. In our increasingly complex society, I believe that people need to allow themselves the room to broaden their horizons for the sake of making the most of their abilities, interests, and cognitive capacities. In my case, I believe that the first step toward widening my own breadth of knowledge is the pursuit of a Master of Business Administration degree. My undergraduate majors encompass functions of management, accounting, leadership, communication, marketing, and human resources.

A tiny pond flows upon the campus, rippling as a gentle breeze caresses the surface. Left and right, students pass by with eyes lit by an eternal flame as they battle with their studies. The University of Texas at Dallas brought a tsunami of emotions to sway my heart. Within each webquest I partake to uncover what the University had to offer, my heart would pang. Why am I not there yet?

I have always been passionate and dedicated to my studies right from childhood. During my school days on wards, I started to develop a special interest in Mathematics and science. I made use of any good opportunity that came my way in order to build on my interest. I did this by participating in inter-schools science and math quizzes and also tutoring my classmates. My family has been dreaming about higher education, I have always dream of higher education and I still do.

The computer is the most wonderful gift of science to the modern man. In this age of science and technology, humanity is witnessing an explosion of knowledge (Lyons, n.d.). Computer a machine that promises to beat man in various fields is one the latest useful inventions word today. The computer can do all the works of man.
