MILLERSBURG — A Newcomerstown man last week denied criminal charges he was in the possession of drugs and a gun during a March traffic stop. Kristopher L. Lanning, 31, of 420 Pearl St., pleaded not guilty in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to trafficking in marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and turning at an intersection. If convicted, Lanning faces up to 18 months in prison for the most serious offense. The charges stem from a March 19 traffic stop near the intersection of County Roads 160 and 77, where a deputy observed a driver failing to yield from a stop sign and then execute a U-turn in the middle of County Road 77, according to Chief Deputy Richard Haun. Approached by a deputy, Lanning opened the vehicle’s glove box to retrieve the registration, at which time the officer observed a .45-caliber in the compartment, said Haun. …show more content…

I initiated an investigative traffic stop on the blue Chevy Cobalt.

Darrin Brodie Neville, 22, of 4775 County Road 400, pleaded guilty in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to two counts of trafficking in drugs. In exchange for his guilty plea, a third charge of trafficking in drugs and three counts of trafficking in counterfeit controlled substances were dismissed. Neville is next scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on May 2, at which time he faces up to two years in prison.
On August 2, 2009, David Leon Riley who belong to the Lincoln Park gang in San Diego, California open fire with others on a rival gang member that was driving past them. For over 70 years the homes off of Woodlawn Avenue have been known as Hathorn Court. However, the community came together on Saturday to change the name to Woodlawn Court. "Hathorn Court has always had a stigma about it because of the crime rate that was here. We had a problem bringing it back to where it needs to be," said Property Manager, Don Paul.
