Before we delve into this topic, let us go back to the book of Genesis chapter 1 verse 26. (God said let us make Man in our own image, after our likeness) There are two very important words here, IMAGE and LIKENESS. Let’s first look at the word IMAGE, it means the exact reflection of one’s self, when you look in the mirror, you see the exact reflection of yourself, so we wouldn’t be wrong to say that God looks like Man. Then the word LIKENESS, also means characteristics, behavior, attributes, abilities, nature or actions, so in both reflection and in actions Man is like God. Let us take a look at the likeness or the nature of God, one of which is leadership, God created Man so, he, God will rule over Man, so man will intend rule over the systems …show more content…
God made Man his co-creator as was demonstrated in Genesis chapter 2 verse 19 and 20 (19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. There are two major points to take note of in this verse. First, God addressed Man by name, all along he was referring to him as Man. This time he was dealing with the human man and not the spirit man. He translated creation from the spirit to the physical, indicating that Adam, who is human just like any name has the ability to function like …show more content…
We were all born to be leaders, to subdue our environment with our gifts and to serve humanity. No one was born to be a follower. We become followers when we settle for jobs instead of doing the work we were born to do, job makes you a follower, but work makes you a leader. Work is that which you were born to do and job is that which you do to survive. Work is defined as what you have been gifted to do to serve humanity for life’s fulfillment. Based on the definition of work, let’s take a look at the similarities of work and leadership. Based on the leadership definition discussed earlier, we realized that three components or features are highlighted in both definitions. They are (1) Gift (2) Service to humanity (3) Fulfillment in life, these elements or features could be seen in creation by God. (i) Gift-His ability to create (ii) Service to Humanity-He created all things for humanity (iii) Finally, fulfillment in Life-He said at the end of creation that all He has done was good. God being the greatest leader exhibited these 3 major features in his work, and since Man was created in his image and likeness, Man must also exhibit these 3 major features in his work to reflect God’s image. In conclusion, we can say that leadership is the work you were born to do, and since every Man was assigned a work to do, therefore every Man was born a
The three of them are not created, each of them is a person that united in a essence of God. It is embodied in the Athanasius Creed as we believe the doctrine of Trinity. God had to be a human because it is necessary, He who was true God and true man could bridge the gulf between God and human. Only Jesus could be obedient in our stead or benefit and it is the sole purpose of Christ’s incarnation, which was for our
One way he uses personification is when he says “Principles with which our struggle has grown and matured.” By him saying this he means that as a person gets older their worries go away and become less of a problem to them. He says things in a way
God is life, creation, love but is not a human being. The Bible implies that God is love and John 4:8 when it states, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love” (John 4:8 NIV). Both questions help to further understand who God is and how big of a part he plays in our life. The bible also states, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”
Genesis two uses a different kind of repetition, any time that the Bible refers to God in this chapter it calls Him “ the Lord
Specifically meaning, the nature of God is monotheistic. Genesis 1-3 consists of the creation of the world, the creation of man and woman, and the fall. The creation of the world explains how God made the world in seven days. Within the creation of the world, the narrative describes how God made everything. He made the night, day, sky, water, earth, animals, plants and stars.
Man resembles God not only because of the spiritual nature of his immortal soul
Genesis 1:26. And God said, Let us make man (the 1st ‘âdâm = Man.) in our image, - God had created Man on the sixth day.
In Genesis 2:7, “then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.” Mankind is one of a kind among every one of God’s manifestations, with a body and spirit. From the bible I don’t think we really know what the “image of God” means, but this is what I have to say about it. In the easiest terms, we were made to look like God. God’s image has been engraved on each of us.
God created both goodness and evil, therefore giving him the ability to remove them. We, as humans, are not capable of understanding what it looks like to be entirely equal to our neighbors, but the capacity to understand this matter was not granted to us, in creation. This verse shows that god was apparent in creation, because in creation, there was the creation of good and bad (sin and virtue) which are idea instilled in us, mechanically, from somewhere, that goes back further that
The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.
As instructors, I believe that we should guide and teach understanding of biblical views, and allow students to “help interpret” their own understanding of biblical views and how they can help shape their lives. I believe that if we have a “right understanding” of the bible we will ultimately bring that understanding to our students. By engaging students in conversation regarding what is being learned at any particular time, as instructors, we will have a better understanding of their points of view and be more equipped to helping them better understand biblical teachings. I believe that the secular world and what goes on around us can bring shadow over what we know and believe and doesn’t help us to help our students. We are instructed
Leadership has been defined in a variety of ways, there are multiple authors and theorists who have tried to define and understand leadership, all leading to varying theories and conclusions, but one thing that is universally understood is the importance of effective leadership and how someone with good leadership skills can impact so many people around them. (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 1999; Yukl, 2002; Northouse,2013) The main components that have been identified to play a role in leadership are relations between leader and subordinates, interaction form between leader and followers, the influence that the leader has, the way in which the leader behaves and finally a leader’s traits. (Yukl, 2002) These elements that make up a leader, are then used as building blocks to identify the way in which each specific leader deals with its followers.
According to our group discussion in term of “leadership” in business world, leadership is not just the person who have the job title or higher range position in an organization but leader is the person who knows the way and ability to demonstrate the possible way to
Genesis 1:1-2 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. These are the opening words of the bible, to believe that God is the creator of the universe is to see everything very different from those without such faith, belief in God’s creation brings with it a way of looking at reality that centers on relationship that sees life in the light of human dependence on God. According to SDA Bible Commentary written by E.G White commenting on this verse it says; “the verb to create describes an activity of God, never of men, God creates”. She continues saying; “the first words of the bible point to the fact that the creation bears the imprint of God’s own activity”. This clearly shows that God is the one who created
