The battle of Bunker Hill actually took place on Breed’s Hill. Why? Because the colonists got to Bunker Hill first before the British, and it was already too late for them to do anything except for fight. The Battle of Bunker Hill has many causes, effects, events, and leaders that made it important to the Revolutionary War. There was The Battles of Lexington and Concord. THe BAttles of Lexington and Concord left Thomas Gage and his British Army pinned down to Boston. Then, the Capture of Fort Ticonderoga which happened shortly after The Battles of Lexington and Concord. And finally, THe Creations of The Continental Army. Prescott and his men had captured Bunker Hill. Thomas Gage sent 2,300 troops to capture the hill before Prescott, but none of that had happened. The British came without artillery support, and they were stopped by American forces behind all fences stuffed with hay and grass. The three tried sending the the Americans, but they were tired and weaponless to flee. There were 1,000 dead for both the British and the colonists. Bunker/Breeds Hill is in Charlestown, and is a quarter mile across. This happened April 17,1775. The effects of this battle was, “The Americans losing the hill and 140 killed and 30 captured and tortured”. says Russell Yost. There are many events that led to the Lexington and Concord Battles. Some of the fights that led to the Lexington and Concord are the Boston massacre. This led to more riots in the streets and many other situations such as the Boston Tea Party. The same as the Boston Massacre this led to more problems. One of these problems is that British shut down the Boston Harbor.
Battle of Hobkirk’s Hill -April 25, 1781 General Cornwallis moved his troops to North Carolina in order to get more provisions for his men. General Greene followed Cornwallis, but hampered by the lack of food, Cornwallis let Green go and trusted that Lord Francis Rawdon who commanded 8,000 men ahead in front of them could take care of the Americans. Rawdon did lead a large force, however it mainly consisted of scattered loyalist units. The largest of these forces numbered 900 men and was based at his headquarters in Camden South Carolina. Greene detached Lieutenant Colonel Henry Lee with orders to unite with Brigaider General Francis Marion for a combined attack on Fort Watson.

The American colonist got word of their plan and went to defend the hills from the British. British forces charged up the hill twice ending in retreat. On the third charge the American Colonist, who were almost out of ammunition, was forced to retreat. The superior Great Britain enacted several measures to raise profit from the thirteen 13 colonies causing resentment from the settlers. Rising protests and resistance led to a rebellion of the American colonists. The rebellion led to the battles of Lexington and Concord to break out on April 19, 1775. British troops are sent to confiscate American weaponry in Massachusetts, where they run into a militia of minutemen.
The militia lived by the motto live to fight another day, so they had a bad reputation of running (Musgrove Mill). The Militia were often not considered a reliable in combat, this reputation was used as an advantage in a very important turning point battle in 1781( Cowpens Tour Guide). Use of landscape and knowledge of the enemy's weapons turned the tide of several battles. Kings Mountain was a battle a which the knowledge of the land played a significant factor in the end result of the battle. Under command of Major Patrick Ferguson, was a force of one thousand loyalist militia and one hundred Provincial soldiers.

Wednesday August 16, 1780, history changed, and it all started by a collision in the woods. They called this history changing battle the Battle of Camden. The Battle of Camden played a big role in the American Revolution. Although the battle wasn’t in great favor of both sides. The Battle of Bunker Hill started when the colonists learned about how the British plan to occupy Darchester Heights. Dorchester Heights overlooked Boston. The colonists were shaken by this news and thought of it as the last straw. They had to protect their land and freedom.

The Battle at Bunker Hill was fought during The American Revolutionary War. Many battles were fought during this time, all of these battles lead to the then British Colonies drafting The Declaration of Independence and separating themselves from the British, Uniting the 13 American Colonies and becoming what is now known as The United States of America. Every battle played a role in allowing the colonists to separate from the British. The members of The 2nd Continental Congress formed just after the start of The Revolutionary War had begun. The Battle of Bunker Hill happened on June 17th 1775, the battle was named for where it was originally planned to be fought, and the battle was actually fought on neighboring Breed’s Hill.
