I am a creature of habit; big changes scare me. This is something that has really dominated my personality for the past couple of years. When I was going into the eighth grade, I moved from Richmond, Virginia to Phoenix, Arizona, a place where no one knew who I was and very few were willing to try and figure me out. I had lived my entire life in Richmond and was very unwilling to move. I think this is where my personality really began to evolve. I went through a phase where I was very closed off to everything and unwilling to try new things. Three years after this original move, I moved from Phoenix to Columbus, Ohio. Right before this move, I was beginning to come out of my shell and return to the original person I had been for the fourteen …show more content…
For softball, I am a lot louder and significantly more confident. I think I am this way because softball has been something that has been a constant throughout my entire life. Two songs that show this are “My House” by Flo Rida and “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy. In softball, you have a song that is played when you walk out to the plate to hit or when you are a pitcher and you walk out to the mound to warm up. Both of these songs have been my walk out songs and for me; they give me a lot of confidence when I am getting ready to play. For “Centuries” it is the line “you will remember me for centuries” that really gets me pumped up for games and reminds me that I have the talent to do well, no matter how badly my warm-ups or my week has gone. As for the song “My House” it really has a lot more meaning to me as a sophomore than it would have as a freshman. It reminds me that I am here to play for Holy Cross and not for my self. It really brings out the mental toughness that I have because it tells me to defend my school and my teammates. Another song that has meant a lot to my softball career is the song “Centerfield” by John Fogerty. What this shows about my personality is that I don’t like to give up. I walked onto the softball team with this same desire to make the team and play in every single game. Part of my personality is the fact that I like to win. I enjoy watching my teammates and the team as a whole succeed and when that happens it really brightens the spirits of everyone around
Baseball in the 1920s Baseball can be considered to be one of the most loved sports of all time. I mean how could it not? The sport itself has come a long way since it was first developed and has done a lot on its way. From putting up crazy history breaking records to putting smiles on kids’ faces, baseball has done it all.
As I stepped out of the car door to head onto the field I could smell the freshly mowed grass and hear the birds chirp. It was a big day for me because I was about to try out for my first softball team. As I walked on the field there were other softball athletes throwing very strong to each other and that made me get nervous. Once I got my glove in my hand and started to throw I felt that I was throwing very well. The coaches Softball made me realize that you have to have leadership skills and
Everyone has a favorite hobby; one that makes their bad days better, and they’re best days great. Softball gives me these days, and it’s what I do best and my ability as a softball player comes from dedication and mental toughness. To be a successful softball player, it requires much strength, time, and energy. There isn’t a sport out that there that you don’t have to work hard at. I am constantly practicing to improve my skill that requires an excessive amount of effort because I have bad days just as everyone else, and many times I’m just plain worn out.
My baseball team finished at 2nd place and 2 people got picked for all star game and i'm confused why they didn't pick me because I had the best batting average on the team and I threw normal and I am a utility player so I could go anywhere. I was the second best catcher on my team and I could make the throw to second. I wish I could go to a sikik like Mrs Reffel did to that one lady that has never made a mistake on her readings and I wanna see if I become a baseball player. Back to my statement I didn't make it to the all star game even though I had good stats.
Change is inevitable. At some point in everyone’s life, they will experience change which will be a turning point in their life. A common change is moving homes and transitioning into a new society. Living somewhere for your whole life in which you call ‘home’ is comforting and safe. Having to leave that safety blanket and beginning a new life can be intimidating and frightening.
A few years ago, I met a stranger in a far away land named Leslie Squatpump. We first saw each other at a local paintballing park. He was always jealous of my skills, and every time we played against each other I always beat him. After one game he asked me if we wanted to be friends and if I ever wanted to hang out I could go to house. We hung out for a while and got to know each other.
Baseball is considered by many to be America’s favorite pastime. Softball in many aspects is similar to baseball but in reality it is harder to play. This can be shown in all aspects of the game from hitting to pitching to fielding to catching. One major aspect where the difference is obvious is hitting. It has been scientifically proven that a 95 mph fastball generates 2411 lbs of force as it crosses the plate and a softball thrown at 65mph generates even more according to youtube.com.
Over the years I’ve gotten stronger, faster, and overall better at softball. Four years into it and I have some great and some painful stories. I’ve learned many things about softball, but one that has stuck out to me and that also applies to life is that it can be fun.
I play softball because of the love I have for the game, and because of the feeling that takes my breath away every time I step onto the field. The softball field at Glendale Community College is now my new home for the next two years. Hearing your name being called and lining up alongside the first base line with your teammates before the game makes you feel worthy and excited to play such an amazing sport. As we gather in a tight circle just before we rush to our positions,
As soon as I step on that red dirt all my worries, problems, and thoughts leave for the 2 hours that I am on the field. Softball has meant so much to me because I struggle with school, I’m not artistic, and I can’t really play any instruments, so without softball I wouldn’t have anything. Softball is the one thing I’m good at and I love playing it. When I step on the red dirt with the other eight girls we work together and we put aside our differences for 2 hours. Those two hours with the other girls make softball so much more enjoyable because they love the game as much as I do and it is truly amazing how sports brings people together.
Although not every move was easy, I soon started enjoying it and looked forward to learning something new about a different place. Therefore, when my father informed me that we were going to relocate to USA, I was on top of the moon. I looked forward to a new environment and new experiences. Despite all the different moves, I found my relocation to Maryland one of the hardest. I soon realized that the schooling was very different and people even talked differently.
Think Big Leagues When I play baseball with my friends I have lots of fun, but imagine what it would be like to play on a professional team. My parents dream for me is to be successful and happy, but I have had an interest in baseball since I was four years old. I remember waking up ready to go play a tournament in the fresh summer air. When I watch the games on T.V, Mike Trout always stood out to me.
My Journey to America Moving from Nigeria to the United States permanently feels great, but at the same time it is sad leaving some of your loved ones and family behind. There are many events in life, which can change one’s way of thinking. As for me, one of the major changes in my life occurred when I moved from Africa to America. This change has entirely affected my personality positively. Why?
Bumping into people while looking down and asking multiple people for direction even though I was shy. Giving five minutes after each class to get to the other, walking into a classroom on my first day people staring and observing. Moving to a different town is not about the new house, it is about adapting to a new environment. Moving away from family and friends can be a tough thing to do. I had to adjust to leaving my friends and family that I loved and seen almost every day.
In addition, what this song means to me also influenced my decision. Not only do I love the song’s classy and jazzy rhythm, and Frank Sinatra’s beautiful and bold voice, but also the lyrics are the reason for much of my affection to the
