Auditory Learner

According to Johns Hopkins School of Education’s website, bringing in music to a classroom could result in altering one’s brain wave, a higher level of concentration, and increased attention and imagination (Brewer 1995). These are very similar to the positive outcomes that Romick discussed in his article that he noticed occurring in his classroom after creating lesson plans correlated with songs. Also similar to Romick’s beliefs, Chris Boyd Brewer states, “Music will activate students mentally, physically, and emotionally and create learning states which enhance understanding of learning,” which will not only benefit the teacher, but also the student while gaining a greater knowledge in the class (Brewer 1995). The music helps create different feelings to emerge, inspiring creativity and a different outlook than simple textbook related material. Our short talk turned into an hour long discussion about which courses to take, if she needed to sign up for summer school, or if a fifth year was necessary. This conversation helped solidify our friendship. Now, I feel most comfortable sharing any problem with Stephanie during our strolls to Blenders. On the other hand, if I am meeting an acquaintance, Blenders is a great ice breaker and study break. While conducting interviews, I would invite our sorority pledges to Blenders.

In my study group are my two friends, Porter and Alyssa. I know Porter from high school and I know Alyssa from ballet, so both member of my study group are former friends. We meet on Thursday nights after dinner. We started this study group about a month ago, so we’ve met four times so far.

I do not like to read a book but I like to read texts or Facebook posts. I didn't like to read a large and big books. I like to read a short and easy story book.

Before coming to JMU I had never experienced a situation like this. I did not enter college emotionally equipped to address someone like Amy in an appropriate way. Joining a sorority has made me a better person and has taught me lessons that I could not have learned anywhere else. During my freshman year, I was especially proud to show off my letters and let the world know about the great organization I had just become apart of. Unbeknownst to myself, I had already accepted that Amy was going to be cooperative and appreciative of my actions because that is what I would consider to be normal and that was my expectation for her.

Research has shown that if you are listening to music at a moderate sound level that it can decrease difficulty and increase processing and can lead to creativity (Beth, 2013). Also that by the genre of music you listen to studies have shown that it can show part of your personality. To name a few Blues fans have high self esteem, are creative and outgoing, and also are gentle and at ease. Jazz fans have high self esteem, are creative and outgoing and are at ease. Country fans are hardworking and outgoing.

The ability to hear is a wonderful quality of human life that every individual is exceptionally fortunate to hold. However, there are several complications that can occur before, during, or after childbirth that can cause a persons hearing to be less than normal, leaving them with life altering challenges that can impair the ways in which they perceive the world around them. Hearing loss is a universal, multicultural phenomenon that impacts children and adults alike. Estimates show that nearly 30 million Americans over the age of 12 in the United States are affected with a bilateral hearing loss (Lin, 2011). Hearing loss can affect an individual in a wide range of manners.

This year I will make a difference by saving water. I will do this by taking shorter showers and by drinking the full cup of water instead of throwing half of the water away. I will also help others if they need help. For example, if someone drops their stuff in the hallway I will help them pick it up. I would like to help other students because I think that everyone should succeed.

Earworms are regular among most people. In Kelly Jakubowski’s study, “Ninety percent of her respondents said they got a song stuck in their heads at least once a week, usually at times when the brain is not particularly engaged, like during a shower, walking or cleaning the house.” People are more likely to get songs stuck in their heads when they are doing something that doesn’t require a lot of brain activity. Earworms could also help explain why people think about so many things during the day. Jakubowski says that, “Research on earworms can help to inform us about how and why our brains spend up to 40% of our days thinking thoughts that are unrelated to our present task at hand.”

The music is beneficial because it will keep the other parts of your brain busy while you are concentrating which will prevent you from drifting off and losing concentration. Music has also been found to engage the area of the brain involved with paying attention. Listening to music through earphones also prevents background noises from distracting which is another reason why people listen to music while trying to focus on something. Listening to music also lowers feelings of tension and anxiety which helps you to calm down which will result in you being able to concentrate better.(Cho, 2014) Music can also be used if you setting time break so for every

Listening to music gives humans huge amount of benefits towards their personal life. A lot of students listen to music to, help reduce stress, boost up their mood and provides motivation in their daily life. Music is an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and affection in significant forms through the components of rhythm, melody, harmony, and colour. Some students use music to overcome the emotional effects of stress or anxiety when engaged in their leisure time, such as studying for a test or quiz, completing homework or assignments that they were given by teachers or lecturers, or while reading and writing.
