fter the Treaty of Paris formally ended the American Revolution and recognized the United States of America as an independent nation, the Founding Fathers were made responsible for creating a government for the United States of America. They initially founded the Articles of Confederation, a weak government, out of fear of a strong, powerful one like Great Britain. Shortly after, however, the Founding Fathers noticed that the Articles of Confederation were failing. An enduring issue that connects to this time period is the enduring issue of conflict because the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation were the root cause of many conflicts between and in the states, as shown in Documents 1 and 2. Documents 1 and 2 both summarize the major flaws of the Articles of Confederation and the many conflicts they sparked.

Fearing the oppressive capabilities of a strong government as a result of their struggles with Great Britain, the Founding Fathers initially decided to create a weaker central government called the Articles of Confederation. Summary: The creation of the Article of the Confederation took place in Pennsylvania, which was created on November 15, 1777 after the Revolutionary war. This was when the members of congress noticed that they should have a rule that will help them be organized and be stablized. The purpose of the confederation was to get a government that can be in union after the Revolutionary war. Analysis: There were several of reasons why confederation was created and the purpose was mainly to give authority to the government and the citizens went along with how they ruled and followed the rights. Some of the purpose was to expand America and Great Britian motivated Confederation so that they can individually govern themselves.

Once the American Revolution had ended, America required a new form of government to happen. November of 1777, the Continental Congress accepted the first American Constitution known as the Articles of Confederation. Shortly after the Articles were confirmed by the states in 1781, multiple problems started to arise that provided the United States with an ineffective government from 1781 all the way to 1789. They were not able to address any of the problems dealing with the American Nation due to the lacking features of the government under the Articles. Moreover, the Articles presented each state with too much power that lead to a loose confederation creating a limited power to the central government.

The Articles of Confederation was written by Congress. Benjamin Franklin was the first to make up an article and to present it to Congress in July 1775, his draft was never fully considered. John Dickinson from Pennsylvania was the fourth to submit a draft for the Articles of Confederation. Dickinson’s third summit was presented to Congress.

The Articles of Confederation (A.o.C.) were the most influential in the development of American political values beacuse they paved the way for the goverment established in modern day America. The A.o.C. did this by allowing the public to vote for representititves in Congress and Limiting the power of the central goverment. By letting the public vote, they formed a reprsenetitive goverment. This allowed the canidate who was most appeling to the public eye and who most of the people thought would do a good job to "lead" the country. However, because they limited the power of the goverment, the president was not allowed to pass a law without approvemnt by Congress.

In the Articles of Confederation, the states remained independent and self-governing, and the Legislative body was the last resort when the concern was the appeal of disputes.

The United States wanted to create a more perfect union, so they established the US Constitution that created fundamental laws and rights for its citizens. The Constitution creates a division of powers, meaning it assigns certain powers to the National Government and saves the remaining powers for the other states. The Constitutional Convention was held on May 25, 1787 in the House of Philadelphia, which is also known as Independence Hall.

Because of the numerous shortcomings of the Articles the convention that was held to modify the Articles wound up discarding the Articles of Confederation and starting from the very beginning once more. A weak Congress was one of the principle weaknesses of the Articles. “The Articles created a loose confederation of sovereign states and a weak central government, leaving most of the power with the state governments” (Library of Congress). The main issue with the Articles of Confederation was that it neglected to give power to the government. The new states needed to unite under one Constitution and form a sovereign central government.

When in the process of repairing those weaknesses, the Federalists and the Anti-federalists formed. The Articles of Confederation were very weak as well as useless to America and because of this, the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists could not agree on a new type of government.

The Articles of Confederation was an agreement among the thirteen original states of the United States that served as the first constitution. The Articles had first been introduced by Richard Henry Lee in the Second Continental Congress. Although the Articles of Confederation has made its contributions throughout history, the Articles, however, did not last very long and had been proven inadequate from the very start. I agree with this statement based on the examples and analysis of the Constitution I will soon provide. The Articles of Confederation were written during a time when the American people feared a strong national government.

The Articles of the Confederation was the first government constitution that the United States used, and, although there were strength like the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, there were major weaknesses of the Articles of the Confederation like the following: requiring 9 out of the 13 colonial votes from the representatives from different states to pass a law; having no executive and judicial branch; and the federal government being unable to impose tax revenue onto the states. Such flaws would eventually lead to the Constitution and the repeal of the articles, for the Constitution was a measure to fix the problems of the articles with a stronger government that allowed them to impose taxes and and implement new laws for a more effective government.
