Was America Ever Great? When you hear America what thoughts come rushing into your head? Do you think of typical American things like Rock n’ Roll, the Statue of Liberty, the American Flag, or how everything is bigger in Texas? If you’re like me, you thought of things like Guns, limited government, a stronger military, and how taxation is theft. But I’m not here to impose my political views. I am merely here to try and persuade you to pick a side in the great ongoing debate, and without any more hesitation, let us begin. Many would say that America is not and never was that great, their stance on this subject would stem from historical instances that would not only be true but also fit their narrative. Instances such as; the first colonists to arrive would have essentially set the groundwork for years to come by befriending the natives then turning and stabbing them in the back, this would continue …show more content…
They would instead offer different reasons as to what makes America great and not so great, for example; many people on either side would believe that the US is a Democracy, well I can tell you that the US is both a Democracy and a Republic. Democracy by definition is a system of government in which the citizens exercise power directly or elect representatives from among themselves to form a governing body, such as a parliament. Sometimes referred to as "rule of the majority. A Republic or in our case a Constitutional Republic is defined as a state where the officials are elected as representatives of the people, and must govern according to existing constitutional law that limits the government's power over citizens. Now the US being both offers us the benefits and freedoms of both systems, making us technically a Democratic Constitutional

The United States Of America is the greatest country ever to touch the planet earth. The only why our nation is like this is because the people living in it all have the American dream to make the world a better place for everyone to live
Since this day, America has greatly expanded and become one of the world’s leading countries. The development of America and its government did not just occur on its own. It took many great men, difficult decisions, and quite
In the Empire of Illusion, author Chris Hedges begins the flow of his work with a claim that relatively can’t be argued with. Beginning with the imagery of America having an imperfect past, which only further backed his repetitive claim that it remains imperfect even now. He used extensive wording to inherently argue that America is drunk on the delusion of it’s own perfection, greatness, and above all still stumbling stupidly with it’s grip on declaration of being the best country on earth. The reality of his wording is blatant factoids of basic American functions that haven’t been functioning for a long time. Nothing in the beginning of his avow is deliberately a slap in the face, but rather the use of common discretions America has chosen to acknowledge in concept but avoid in practice.
America a place where people could feel safe and now that we are the most powerful nation we are able to feel safe. The only way to keep our safeness is to elect very strong Presidents. Some of the strong presidents might not be able to run because of the “natural born law”. This law does not allow immigrants who are now American citizens to run for president. Even though Immigrants have all of the other requirements to become president they are not allowed to run.
.America is the land of opportunity to many individuals. It gives people a chance to become who they really desire to be. That idea though, is not always true. What sometimes occurs is that people who want to become a true American make themselves believe that the only way to do so is by becoming powerful and losing the morals that they were taught. What has been ingrained in much of society is that if one does not do one of those things they are lesser than the ones who do.
It is very easy to take out country and or freedom for granted. For those of use that have always lived here and never seen anything different it is almost impossible to to fully realize how good we really have it. We were not given anything we have today however, it took an extreme amount of hard work and dedication by the leaders of our past. It is impossible to discuss how this country achieved what we have now today without talking about George Washington. Our first presidents, the man who really pulled our country together and helped lay the ground work that we still live by today.
Have you ever notice how people say “ The United States of America” like it was the best country in the whole world? I pretty much agree with that. People see the United States as if it was perfect, however, they never knew or know much about who are the heroes that helped our nation to be that perfect. One of is Abraham Lincoln, he was the 16th president of the United States and he is regarded one of America’s greatest hero due to his role as the Savior of the Union and emancipation of slaves. He helped the United States of America became united during the civil war, he also ended slavery, and lastly, he chose to lead his country into a better place and took the consequence of which is death.
Perhaps we can't. So rather, let us look at what makes America unique compared to other
Dear fellow nasty women and bad hombres, America is one the greatest experiments in freedom and liberty history has ever known. We are a nation that was built on the minds and ideals of immigrants. Our Founding Fathers created America so that everyone could have a chance at "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Those are aspects of my country, I would never change because they are what make us unique. The glow of America casts a ripple of hope upon those who struggle.
Impacts of Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece on America Most of America considers itself a “Great” nation. Whether this means powerful, intelligent, flourishing, thriving, et cetera, is unclear. In order to explore where America obtained the inspiration for its greatness, I am going to walk through the influence of the great Greek and Roman cultures and Empires (so to speak). These ancient civilizations were among the first that had governments of democracy and sophistication, of elections and thriving economies on a mass scale.
America is an Independent body of minds and also was the first of its kind coming up with new ways to separate and distance themselves away from other countries that 's what makes America so unique it wasn 't told what to do by British Parliament or have a Monarch. A quote that supports my main definition and thesis statement would be would be a quote by Thomas Jefferson when he said “ The cement of this union is the heart blood of every american”Jefferson, Thomas. " To Lafayette Monticello, February 14, 1815. " The Letters of Thomas Jefferson 1743-1826.
When you ask a non American “What does America mean to you?” , they will more often than not answer with hamburgers, obesity, NFL and Reality TV. That is okay because who doesn 't love hamburgers and football filled Sundays, who doesn 't love watching silly reality TV shows and who doesn 't love a cheat day every once in awhile? Those people are judging a book by its cover and fortunately for me… well my thoughts about America are quite different. When an individual asks me “What does America mean to you?”
Stop Burning the American Flag! Ronald Reagan once said, “When we honor our flag we honor what we stand for as a Nation - freedom, equality, justice, and hope.” The Texas v. Johnson case is a vast problem that seems to be overpowering in today’s society. Since the case began there have been flag burnings all over the country, and no one seems to be concerned since people are not getting disciplined. People should not be burning the flag that so many people fight and lost their lives for.
When a person hears or sees the word America, what do they think? America is a country that almost everyone in the world knows about because there are certain words and phrases that can be used to describe it. Some common terms are sports, equality, the melting pot, powerful, freedom, hard working, and some more. All of these words make up what is known as the American Identity. This American Identity has been built up over time by people’s actions and thoughts.
