On the river of United States history, there are many remarkable war to help United States earn its independence. Though the wars which happened during the Independence Wars were important in winning the independence back to the United States, there were still two battles very significant among all the battles: the Battles of Lexington and Concord. In the early years, after winning independence from Great Britain, the American colonies set up their government in accordance with their first constitution, the Articles of Confederation. This means that the majority of the power laid in the hands of the states and Congress, “the only institution of national authority” (Brinkley 151) at that time, had very little power. This distribution of authority was the manifestation of the American’s fear of a strong, central government. However, as time passed, more and more people came to agree that the national government was too weak and needed to be strengthened.

Gaining their independence was significant, however, keeping it would be the challenge. The Americans knew a stable federal republic was essential to remaining independent, thus they created the Constitution. Although, the creation of the Constitution and the equality it ensues a controversial issue, the Constitution did not fulfil the job it was designed to do. The document did not establish a fair government.

In 1783, the Treaty of Paris was signed and America was declared it’s own nation after years of war. America was fighting for it’s freedom because they had a tyrant ruler, King George III, who didn’t give them their rights. According to James Madison, a tyrant is one, few, or many people who abuse their given power. Originally, the framers made a weak national government, the Articles of Confederation, because they were afraid of a tyrant controlling them again. The Articles didn’t have an executive leader, or court system for the states.

The American Revolution was one of the most important wars that was fought in the history of the United States. The Patriots and the British had two different views on how things should be run in America. Many people have different opinions on why, where and how the war was started. There were a few key battles that helped to influence the outcome of the war. The outcome of the American Revolutionary War influenced the United States way of Freedom and the way the American people live today.

In 1791, England resident Thomas Paine wrote a small paragraph about what he believed America was; he claimed that it was a mixing pot for ethnic groups, peaceful between said ethnic groups, had even economical statuses, implemented low taxes, had a just and fair government, and non-controversial. In July of 1776, the thirteen American colonies declared their independence and the nation was the “ United States of America.” The Americans wanted to be free form Great Britain because they wanted sovereignty and did not want allegiance with Britain. In 1803, the U.S. first purchased the Louisiana Territory from France for fifteen million dollars, which doubled the size of the land. The expansion happened quickly and allowed the nation to grow in power because America had more resources.

The ideologies of the people coming from Europe shaped the way that our country was formed. "What is freedom to a nation, but freedom to the individuals in it?"1 While this quote is not necessarily from this period, it illustrates the values of the colonial people when forming their new country. England was a place of relative freedom, however, there were certain groups of people who believed they needed more religious, political, and individual freedoms. During this time period, England was nearly exclusively Protestant. King Henry VIII had formed the Church of England and imposed it on the nation.

Introduction The stories of the founding of the United States is legendary in many regards. History places it that America was found by a group of farmers who had local political experience. This group came together in one accord and in arms to go against the monarch and tyrant to become a self-governed state. In the words of these men, “all men are created equal,” a phrase that natural elicited men and women to risk their lives for freedom .

Strong, long lasting unions are built from the determination and respect of the people; individualism takes a sole part in the United States government and has it has shaped our world today. When the United States of America was born, myriads of people migrated to this land in search of a better life- the only problem was how the country itself were to be run. People from across the world carrying different opinions, religions, memories, and backgrounds provided various outcomes for how the big picture for America would look. The people were attempting to form a government based off of their own human rights (and other aspects in balancing the federal government), but still looked for a form of structure to uphold this new form of free land.

American independence was inevitable. One main objective for most immigrants when making the initial move to the western world (in ***** century) was to escape religious persecution and seek religious freedom. This initial search for religious freedom, in my opinion, was the beginning of the inevitable separation between Great Britain and the United States. This opportunity of individual expression was something that people in this time period had never experienced before, and led to the questioning of other aspects in their life that had previously been determined by the crown.
