Apn Role

Leadership has many definitions. Chin, Desormeaux, and Sawyer (2016) define leadership as a relationship between followers and a leader with the intent to promote change through a mutual vision. Therefore, leaders are active influences in the outcome of organizations, through their decision-making, strategies, and influence on followers (Dinh et al., 2014). Additionally, in the nursing context, it has been documented that a leader 's style plays a factor in patient outcomes (Fischer, 2016). Indeed, in an ever-changing, complex health care environment, nursing leadership has become a crucial factor in managing challenges and maintaining patient safety (Fischer, 2016).

As lifelong learning continues, it is important to focus on patients and family outcomes through teamwork collaboration, advocating, effective communication, and equally, self-driven to accomplish goals to create and coordinate activities to promote professional development, is why I have chosen to apply for the ambulatory nurse educator

My knowledge in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) continues to expand as I progress through the DNP program. The knowledge I have attained while in the study of the DNP I and DNP II is priceless. For example, recognizing stakeholders and utilizing networking has helped me to progress on my DNP project (Gokenbach, 2012). I also have a better understanding as well as the purpose of a DNP project. My mentors have been great in directing me in remaining on the right track.

Advanced practice nursing (APN) can be defined in many ways and differs from basic nursing practice. ANA (2010) defines APN as incorporation and application of evidenced based practice that is accomplished during graduate school. The AACN distinguishes the role of the APN by stating that they have a direct clinical focus. AACN states that interventions taken by APNs have an impact on patient care outcomes. APNs must put patient care and health care policy first.

It also shined light on certain ethical dilemmas that my dental office staff has and not dealing with. This class gave me the proper tools and knowledge

My experience working on PCU/telemetry unit and surgical/trauma unit did not only allow me to obtain knowledge on various different medical conditions and surgeries, it also assisted me with my organization skills and time management. As a leader working as a charge nurse and a preceptor, I am autonomous and able to multitask. Also from working with various different healthcare professionals, I am aware of different roles each healthcare team members play in the process of patient care. As a Family Nurse Practitioner student, I plan to advance my ability and my awareness to program my mind to think like an Advance Practice Nurse while not losing the valuable skills and knowledge that I have gained as a Registered Nurse. I will implement the knowledge and incorporate it with the education I will receive from Drexel University’s Family Nurse Practitioner program to better understand and learn to treat the patient’s health conditions as a Primary Care

With the ongoing healthcare demands and shortages, the appropriate role and responsibilities of the advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) will continue to be a controversial debate. There were many points addressed in your post that I agree and don’t agree with. It is most certainly not arguable that physicians do endure a longer, more intense education. I personally believe their role as a hospitalist is valuable and should never be discredited for their knowledge and expertise. However, I also believe that they are doing their patients a disservice if they are being overworked due to provider shortages.

1. For Program Student Learning Outcomes what I demonstrated in my artifact is Develop leadership skills to provide and continuously improve the delivery of safe, patient-centered quality healthcare. Within in nursing we must develop leadership skills to better serve our patient. The reason why nurses should have leadership skills because it will help the nurse to be able to intervene, be able to implement tasks, create care plan, and evaluate. Also, with leadership it helps you to be more efficient in advocating for your patient, which will lead to patient-centered quality care.

Innovative role of the future nurse leader in improving patient care and sustaining healthy work environment. Introduction: McCarthy (2014) defines leadership as the propensity of achieving extraordinary results of an organization through ordinary people. Similarly, Charlton (2000) states that a good leadership is credible of changing an ordinary person to contribute extraordinary accomplishment during difficulties, making positive change and consistently working toward long-term common goals of an organization. However, Buhler (2006) defines leadership slightly different, which says leadership is commonly described as the art and science of influencing a group toward the achievement of goals.

I’ve been told that I am a natural-born leader my whole life. I used to think leadership was simply about confidence, but it is comprised of so much more. Leadership encompasses values of collaboration, mutual respect, and the commonality of a goal. As I’ve gotten older, my definition of leadership has shifted as I have surrounded myself with strong leaders who not only encourage but inspire others to be better. Within the healthcare field, leadership is always evolving.

All this education has provided me with the abilities, knowledge, strengths, work ethics to be a proud and efficient professional working in the competitive nursing field. The BSN program has provided me with new knowledge and new skills, that have helped me to evolve into a more competent and professional nurse with stronger nursing knowledge, ethics, and moral values. Each course that I took during the BSN program was a new opportunity to strengthen my knowledge, ability to do research, and critical thinking skills expanding my knowledge and making me feel confident of my abilities to work as an important part of an interdisciplinary team. Most importantly, since the contents of this course are largely different from what I have learned in my major courses. I regard this as a rare opportunity for me to take on some new challenges, and I would like to take a chance to develop my leadership skills. Before attending this course, “leadership” is a word quite far away from me, and I only have some basic understandings of it. And I found out that most of my thoughts I had about leadership are very different from what it really is.
