Influence of Girls’ Elementary Education and Culture on Ascension to Leadership by Burundian Women
2. Background of the study
Since the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing 1995), where women rights and gender equality were put at the center stage, countless initiatives have taken place all around the world to allow girls and women to have access to the same opportunities as men do. However, literature on the efforts of some countries in the developing world is not explicitly clear on the motivators to propel such initiatives.

Descriptive refers to the study of personal experience (Yüksel & Yıldırım, 2015) and requires a description or interpretation of the meanings of phenomena experienced by target population (Oizumi, Albantakis & Tononi, 2014). Whereas transcendental phenomenology “analyzes the essences perceived by consciousness with regard to individual experiences” (Anfara Jr & Mertz, 2014).

University of California, Santa Barbara upon first glance exclusively represents the term university, meaning that UCSB is widely and solely represented as a place of education. This can be noted, as well as supported, in the universities’ statement of their mission, which focuses on the fact that “Teaching and research go hand-in-hand at UC Santa Barbara” and the students are on “educational journey.” However, once UCSB is holistically analyzed it is shown to reflect more than a University, but rather an organization that follows not only the bureaucratic but also organizational definition. UCSB’s connection to a bureaucratic organization, however, is further supported through its connection to formalization, the division of labor, and hierarchy. In conclusion, UCSB has duality in its existence as not only a university but also an organization.
Qualitative Critique Discussion I will be comparing and contrasting two qualitative studies: (1) an ethnographic study that examined the care and management of women experiencing early miscarriage in a hospital (Murphy & Philpin, 2010); and (2) a phenomenological study focused on the emotional needs of dying patients (Law, 2009). Ethnographers describe and interpret cultural behavior. They collect, describe, categorize, and analyze data. Their goal is to identify patterns in the behavior and thoughts of participants.
Kimberly Tyler, a professor in the sociology department at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln, published “A Qualitative Study of Early Family Histories and Transitions of Homeless Youth” in 2006. In her study, she conducted in-depth interviews with a small group of forty homeless youth between the ages of 19 and 21 across four Midwestern states. Tyler’s open-ended questions guided the youths through their childhoods, asking specifically about several types of abuse. All interviews were carefully transcribed and examined, as researchers divided up the different abuse allegations. In the interviews the homeless youths revealed that thirty-seven of them had witnessed at least one parent abuse a substance, such as alcohol or marijuana.
Introduction The prevention of patient-to-patient assault in an inpatient psychiatric unit is essential for the safety of patients and staff (Perez, 2014). The aim of this quantitative pilot study is to decrease patient-on-patient assaults which, in the long run, may improve patient safety during hospitalization (Staggs, 2015). This chapter discusses the study design and population plan and describes procedures for implementing the project, data collection, data analysis, the institutional review board (IRB) process, and challenges that may occur with initiating the quality improvement project. There are great obstacles hindering women from being represented in government. For example, despite Rwanda having the world’s best representation of women, with 58 percent, President Paul Kagame runs the show. Mexico, in seventh place, tops all of the Scandinavian countries but however, the women have little to no real power. Attitudes about gender-appropriate work and stereotypes about the aptitudes of women are a factor limiting women’s opportunities to gain access to top posts in
The article illuminates the various ways America could have stepped in before and during the Rwandan Genocide. While admittedly the article does not mention Burundi it shows where Burundi is headed if there is no intervention. However in the article "BURUNDI: Towards Greater Food Security. " they sit food security as a more important type of intervention in the case of Burundi. Both give good information and examples of what can be done, however neither of them offer real solutions on how to motivate other countries to provide the aid needed.

As women’s positions in leadership continue to grow in our world, I find that my interest and confidence in taking on leadership positions in and out of school has grown as well. In school, I have become more involved in being a leader in different organizations. From being Vice President of the Literati and captain of the Girl’s Soccer team there are so many different ways to be a leader. Being a leader in these organizations allows me to share my passions with others, and inspire them to do more. As Vice President of the Literati, I encourage members to share their enthusiasm towards English with the rest of the community.

As result, the qualitative research method and philosophy of phenomenology will be employed to study this experience (Beck, 2013; Husserl, 1970; Munhall & Chenail, 2008). The descriptive phenomenological method helps to provide an understanding
Sudanese Women and Gender Discrimination at Work “Leadership is the act of serving others and has no gender preference”. (Farshad Asl, N.D.) Gender inequality has become a major problem in our day and age especially in third world countries. Women are not given the same opportunities as men yet; expectations of them are very high. Sudanese women in specific face a lot of discrimination in many different aspects of their lives.
It is a challenge for organizations to advance, maintain and promote talented women. A strategic combination of individual advancement and a foundational change in mind-set could be the solution, and additionally a survey and in some cases a confirmation of organizational culture. The entry of women in to leadership should be enhanced so as to change the states of mind and the culture of development industry to draw in more skilled leaders with diversity. Hence not just the development business or the other stakeholders who impact women’s career but also the women concerned should take the concern to defeat their own barriers for entry into leadership positions in management. The acknowledgement of ‘soft skills’ to women has both positive and negative ramifications for women.
