Social factors:
Parents,carers and teachers are the people who can be considered among first people to initiate child’s development in his early years. From the social perspective the first point which affects child’s language and communication is child’s relationship with an adult and very next part is the sufficient time for interaction from that adult and in addition to the quantity of time, adults also have to be skilful in the way they work.
Other social factors which affects children’s language and communication development are Bilingualism or multilingualism, having parent with a reading disability and child’s cultural background, coming from a household where the child has few opportunities to experience spoken or written language.

As we saw in social factors that affects language development, Children’s relationship with an adult plays a very important role in developing language and communication. Mostly those adults are parents. The first voice which children hear is from the parents. Children’s interest in learning to talk begins with this. They learn to be responsive through these talks from parents. So just by talking and chatting to their children, parents make the communication and language progress smooth.
In addition to this when parents start sharing books with their children, the path to reading skills progresses.
So, it is very essential to share children’s development information with parents and to encourage them constantly to be the important part of their child’s
What I learned was the Power of Language video taught that with dual learners, you should incorporate some of their language throughout the day. Explain the importance to children’s holistic development of Speech, language and communication This development is important for children’s holistic development as this will help the children to socialise and help them express what they like and need, this will get them to have more sense about the world. If the child can communicate this will help them with their confident and self-esteem levels as they can talk about how they feel.it is important for children to use their own language skills and not to listen to other all the time and this could put their development back. Adults should praise children a lot so they have the encouragement try new things but it is important you adults to give them feedback so that they can learn from right and wrong.
By working in partnership with parents, practitioners are able to get some information based on the child to help with the planning of activities for the child. In addition to working with parents, the setting would have the support of parents therefore; the child’s emergent literacy is more likely to develop at home. This is because if parents are supportive, they may be reading to the child at home or encouraged to do so by the setting not only in the early years but also from year 1 (key stage 1). Also, working with parents allows the sharing of information. Whilst in the setting, the practitioners will need to plan activities based on the child’s interests but also their age and stage of development based on the EYFS.
Over the past few months, the class has been discussing typical and atypical language development and the assessment and intervention of children with language delay or disorder. In line with this, the students were asked to observe children aged 0-12 years old with language problems for 2 hours. For this requirement, I went to a therapy center situated in Quezon City last November 16, from ten (10) A.M. to twelve (12) N.N. The center has multiple rooms that are used for speech therapy and occupational therapy. During my observation, two speech pathologists and two children with language disorder were sharing one speech therapy room.

Observations are very important when planning for children’s individual needs. While observing practitioner understand children’s needs, interests and their stage of development. Once children’s needs, interests and stage of development are recognised, practitioner can plan activities and resources accordingly. Children must be observed frequently as their needs, interests and stage of development keeps on changing. The activities given to children should be according to their current abilities which will enhance their development.
Language development is a critical part of a child’s overall development. Language encourages and supports a child’s ability to communicate. Through language, a child is able to understand and define his or her’s feelings and emotions. It also introduces the steps to thinking critically as well as problem-solving, building and maintaining relationships. Learning a language from a social perspective is important because it gives the child the opportunity to interact with others and the environment.
