Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader): A Child Development Analysis Anakin Skywalker, later known as Darth Vader, is the single greatest tragedy of the Skywalker Saga, an informal name for the movies 1-6 of Star Wars. The movies take us through his early childhood years as a curious aspiring pilot, to the end of his life as a callous and hateful sith lord. Somewhere along the lines, Anakin started to lose his humanity as he drifted towards corruption. He began his life in slavery, serving a cruel shopkeeper named Watto, who had affixed a bomb

It was a very stressful life, but he had the constant love and support of his mother to get him through it. As he neared pre-pubescence, he was taken in by the Jedi Order, who offered him safety and a purpose, but he had to leave his mother behind. The Jedi Order taught distance and emotionlessness, something that Anakin would struggle to adopt. Whilst he was within the jedi, he was manipulated by a sith lord, who would tell him that the jedi were wrong, and that he was right to trust his emotions. This would cause a split within the jedi, and cause him even more issues. By the time he reached adulthood, he was extremely stressed, cynical, and paranoid of all those who were close to him. Not to mention that he was fighting in a civil war, and was constantly losing his friends. Years later he would embrace the teachings of the sith lord, and slaughter …show more content…
Piaget outlines four developmental stages, outlining the typical growth of a child’s psychosocial development. The stages are as follows: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. The sensorimotor stage exists from birth to the age of two, and covers the development of a child’s ability to interact with the world through basic senses as well as the beginnings of symbolic comprehension. Anakin is thought to have had a fairly normal sensorimotor stage, despite being the son of a slave. Next is the preoperational stage, which goes from ages 2 to 7. At this point the child will have a much greater understanding of symbolism, and will start to depict the world with images and words. Anakin would have gone through this stage in a mostly normal manner, as his language development was consistent thus far. It is most likely that his fascination for mechanics developed at this time. Third is the concrete operational stage, which will go from 7 to 11 years of age. It is at this point that logical thought and other important facets like conservation and reverse thinking arise. Anakin began to build his own machines at this point. His development here would be greatly impacted by his lack of access to education, making much of his development go towards staying alive as a slave. Near the end, he would have been taken by the Jedi, who would educate him, but would separate him from his
He endured many hardships along the way, but he couldn't escape his fate that forced his life to advance with the military. Through multiple brainwashing techniques the military changed him into a war hungry animal.
Because his parents didn’t care for him, he believed that nobody would. He kept all his feelings inside and was never able to open up to anyone even when he needed to. The only thing that his parents did for him, was bring him into a constant state of fear. The lack of
He wasn't thinking when he was doing the things that would get him in trouble. He would just fight people just to fight them or with his parents. It started to get worse because one day he came home and was going into his parents things and saw 3 tickets. He was confused because there is 4 people in his family. Then right after that he found the unwound papers so he ran away from his home.
His early years helped him become a rebellious person.
He was forced to grow up quickly in his quest to find his family. During his journey he matured as he struggled for survival on a day to day basis. “ One evening we actually chased a little boy who was eating two boiled ears of corn by himself... we didn’t say a word or even look at each other ( Beah 30)”. While on the run from the war, he and his travel mates scavenged to find what little food was left by the Revolutionary United Front ( RUF).
He had become very passive and let his environment and circumstances take control of his life while promoting him to make bad
He saved the man, but died in the process. Since the Johnsons’ were very poor, Andrew Johnson didn’t have any formal, rock-solid education. At the age of fourteen, Andrew was approached by a tailor, who was willing to teach him about the ways of tailoring. The tailor gave Andrew some basic education, such as reading and writing, and left him to learn the rest. Then, when at the age of eighteen,
He was a bitter person who lacked the ability to establish contacts with other people. Just like any other father, he was trying to protect his children during that time. He suffered from paranoia. He constantly thought his family was trying to poison his food and everyone was against him.
He tries to do good things, but eventually is forced to return the same treatment that he has received. Without being cared for, he can not function in the society that he was brought into. He can learn everything possible about the people around him, but he is not accepted by them in the first place. With this, he can not become the person that the world expects him to be, and he resorts to dangerous
In the midst of all of this he finds a balance by focusing on what really matters. At the same time this keeps him focused on his main goal which is education. Education will be his family's way out of poverty. Through seeing his younger brother that is unemployed and will be having a child soon he looks beyond this and is genuinely proud of where he comes from. He realizes how strong his family is when he seems them fighting through poverty and making things.
According to Piaget there are four stages of intelligence. They are as follows: the Sensorimotor stage from birth to 2 years of age. In this stage Piaget states that the child is able to objects and stimuli but lack an internal representation of the outside world. The Preoperational stage from ages two to seven in which the child is able to use language to communicate, they also have the ability to think in images and draw those images. The Concrete Operational stage from ages seven - eleven is where the child should be using logical reasoning and is able to think in multiple dimensions.
He was the youngest of two children. A growth on his left eye caused him to have a lazy eye, which subjected him to teasing. His father was a abusive, raging alcoholic and his mother was fanatically religious. Him, his mother and his brother were regularly abused by his father, George. I believe this was a building block to his psychosis.
He did not really have enough power within himself to make choices because everyone normally told him what to do. He started getting more involved in the life of the streets and started becoming a part of “clicks.” He got arrested numerous times and had many phone calls from school to his mother. Overall, it was all he knew, that whole life became who he
Piaget developed a stage theory of intellectual development that included four distinct stages: the sensorimotor stage, from birth to age 2; the preoperational stage, from age 2 to about age 7; the concrete operational stage, from age 7 to 11; and the formal operational stage, which begins in adolescence and spans into adulthood. He believed that there were four necessary ingredients for cognitive development which included: “maturation of the nervous system, experiences gained through interaction with physical world, social environment, and child’s active participation in adapting to environment & constructing knowledge from experience.” (Sullivan, 2014, Slide 3) The sensorimotor stage occurs between birth and age 2. Infants and toddlers acquire knowledge through sensory experiences and handling objects.
and it begins with the sensorimotor stage, a child from birth to the age of 2 years old learns and thinks by doing and figuring out how something works. The second stage is the preoperational stage and in this stage children from ages 2 through 7 years are developing their language and they do pretend play (Berk, 2005, p.20). Concrete operational is the third stage and children ages 7 to 11 years old lack abstract but have more logic than they did when they were younger. The last stage is formal
