American Revolution was not a sudden radical change. It was sort of an accelerated evolution. Separation of church and state began. The Anglican Church stopped receiving tax money although the Congregational Church continued its established status. The Anglican Church also became known as the Episcopal. Also, two major acts were put in place, called the Sugar Act and the Stamp Act. The Stamp act actually cut the taxes from the Molasses act, in half, to three cents per gallon. It also differed from the Molasses act, because it included new safeguards to ensure that it would actually be enforced. For merchants, this really meant a change from no tax to a three cents tax. The Stamp act, was a direct British tax on a wide variety of printed materials
The Sugar act got created in 1764. It lowered the tax on molasses. It listed foreign goods to be taxed comprised of sugar, certain wines and coffee, pimento. “the Molasses Act colonial merchants (people who traded and owned shops in the colonies) were required to pay a tax of six-pence per gallon on the importation of foreign molasses.”
The Stamp Act The Stamp Act was a tax placed on the American colonies by the British in 1765. It said they had to pay a tax on all sorts of printed materials such as newspapers, magazines and legal documents. It was called the Stamp Act because the colonies were supposed to buy paper from Britain. The items bought had to have an official stamp on it that showed they had paid the tax. No Representation The colonists
The Stamp act was like the opposite of The Sugar
The Sugar Act, also known as the American Revenue Act or the American Duties Act, was one of the laws that led to anger, dislike, disagreement, and eventually revolution in Colonial America. Another effect was an increase in smuggling and crime in the colonies. The colonists did not want to pay the outrageous taxes so they looked for ways not to have to pay. A third effect was the colonists decided to stop buying luxury products from Great Britain and looked to local manufacturers for their products. They did this to avoid paying the high
Nevertheless England wanted implemented economic policy known as mercantilism, which focuses on profit of trade.7 England began to pass legislation to ensure that it reaped more trade benefits from its colonial possessions.7 England passed acts that would benefit from the products being created in the new world. One significant act was the Stamp Act 1765, which imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. This stamp act created animosity between the colonies and England because the colonies believed this was just another way to get money out of the colonies without the approval of the colonial legislatures.8 The colonies soon wanted to be free from the reign of the British rule
The beginnings of every revolution is a shift in ideals, and the American Revolution is no exception. As any conservative Christian Republican will tell you, the United States was started on Christian ideals. The
The Declaration of Independence was a document that freed the colonies from Britain. After the French and Indian War the British put out a new control called the Proclamation Line of 1763. The Proclamation Line of 1763 didn 't allow the colonies from settling west from the Appalachian Mountains. Another act that King George III put into place is called the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act is a law that required that the colonists buy and place tax stamps on many kinds of documents.
Priyanka Mae Naidu J16021945 The American Revolution refers to a political disruption that took place between 1765 and 1783. During this period, colonists in the Thirteen American Colonies rejected the British monarchy elite, and abolish the authority of Great Britain. Then, the thirteen Colonies became the United States of America and attained independence from the British Empire.
The Sons of Liberty were much like modern day Isis. From burning houses to murder, they were a group of people no one dared to provoke. The famous rebel group took a stand against the British Parliament for what they believed was right. They gave colonists hope in not only their future, but also America’s future. The Sons of Liberty are important because they secured America’s future, showed bravery, and formed the Continental Congress.
The Navigation Acts restricted foreign trade to competition with other countries, while reducing the chances of the colonies becoming an independent nation; in addition, all British products that were to be sent to the colonies were heavily taxed in order to create more profit. The Sugar Act placed tax on sugar, wine, and coffee, and denied any colonist accused of smuggling trial by jury, eventually leading to a drastic plummet in the rum industry. Finally, the Stamp Act, an act that was passed without the consent of the colonists, that taxed any paper or document in order to gain money from the colonists for Britain, ultimately leading to the colonists revolting against Britain, and writing newspapers that promoted the idea of independence from the imperialist nation that had repeatedly denied them their liberty, democracy, and
The American Revolution ignited democratic rule in nations and spread through the whole world. The American Revolution was definitely different from other revolutions in many ways. It was radical in that the causes of it were for new ideas like their ideas on equality, that all men are created equal, and are given the right to live and pursuit of happiness. Although the American Revolution was radical than any other revolution that had occurred previously. it was more conservative than it was radical.
In that case, the American Revolution was very revolutionary because there were political, social, and economic changes. Wealthy people lost their money, there was a new government, it made citizens question slavery, and certainly more freedom for the Americans. The American Revolution resulted in the establishment of an independent nation; British colonists became American citizens. That was a vast change in U.S history.
Writing Assignment #2 Question 1: The French and Indian war was a huge influence in the American Revolution. The War caused the huge debt for the British and to help cover that debt the British began taxes on the colonist. The French and Indian War was just the top of the iceberg. It was also a commutation of the Sugar Act which imposed a tax on imported goods on textiles, coffee, wine, sugar and molasses. Then the Currency Act was enacted the prohibited the colonist to print their own money.
The taxes that the Sugar Act placed made the most money for Britain, more than any of the other taxes did. The colonist were very upset with the Sugar Act because of the way it was enforced. The Sugar Act took away the colonist’s right to a trial by jury when the British set up the Admiralty courts. Admiralty courts were where a judge decides the outcome rather than the colonial courts. The judges would earn 5% of however much the cargo load was worth if they could prove the person accused was guilty.
As a result of their revolution, the Americans got their independence from Britain and introduced enlightenment ideas into their government. The American government after the revolution was much different than the government before the revolution. Before the revolution the American people were not represented in government and had no say. After the revolution the American people became the government. People elected other people that they trusted to go represent them in government.
