One-hundred and fifty students stared out at the audience, heaving after singing their final note at the All-State Honor Choir Conference. Among those kids was Janie Hawkins, a five-foot-two, singing powerhouse. All state choir is focused on learning music and perfecting skills, so when Janie got in, she received music at home before the “conference.” She and other students tried out in September, received the music and then stayed in Eugene, Oregon. After two days of practicing for the performance with her choir peers, Janie and the choir finally did the performance and had to say goodbye to their new-found friends at the Eugene Hult Center. Weeks of hard practice were put to good work on that Saturday night. All-State Honor Choir for men and women is a chance for kids to sing with students for three days and share beautiful music. Janie was enrolled in her school choir when the opportunity came up for All-State. When she finally decided that trying out for the Honor Choir was a good choice for her, she payed …show more content…
Both choirs got black crew necks with All-State written in blue and green, then trotted to the Hult Center. Both Choirs went backstage to practice walking onto the risers on stage. Then the girls choir stayed on the stage and the boys went to the seats to watch them. The girls sang through all five of their songs, then watched the boys. Later that night at seven o'clock both choirs got up on the stage for one last time to perform. They sang the best they could in front of their friends and family and sounded of one-hundred-fifty goddesses to make them proud. When the performance was over Janie looked out at the hundreds of seats and hundreds of faces staring at her smiling and she couldn’t help smiling to herself. The night was at its end and Janie felt that she was being torn from her newfound friends despite how elated she was to have been a part of
As the music began, she couldn’t keep the smile off of her face. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, she was actually part of a professional halftime performance. She performed the routine flawlessly and continued to feel the rush of performing live after the group had run off the field. She knew this was a moment she would always remember, the Saturday she spent at the Citrus
The message that the author has presented for this theme is that the viewer may go through many tragedies only to find out that happiness isn’t the result of being happy, but it is the journey that makes them happy. Janie is finally able to explore what makes her happy besides being with a man.
“Music is present and an integral part of every life celebration: birthdays, holidays, funerals, Quinceañeras, you name it.” Having music around throughout her childhood got her interested in becoming a performer herself.
At the beginning of this show many of us weren’t comfortable being as over the top as we were, but once we stepped out side of our comfort zones we completed the task at hand. So as I continue to sing in Sartell Choirs and any choir, I want to continue to step out side of my comfort
On December 7, the Monticello High School mixed and concert choirs presented a choral program called “An Olde Tyme Radio Choral Concert” in the high school auditorium. It was directed by Mr. Brett Kniess, and Janice Vetter was the pianist. The songs were chosen to put the audience in the holiday spirit, and in my opinion, it accomplished this goal. The first five songs were sung by a mixed choir of freshman and sophomores.
Once Joe dies, Janie takes down her hair as a symbol of her newfound freedom and detachment from what used to make her unhappy. Janie must have had a great big smile on her face as she had to correct the expression to make people believe she is sad and in the process of mourning. Janie is a selfish human who believes that her life goals are the most important thing in the world. She does not care about anything as much as she cares about finding love and happiness in her life. “The young girl was gone, but a handsome woman had taken her place.”
The music that flows from this esteemed chapel is incomparable. As equally important, the music from Sisters Chapel expresses the nature and culture of Spelman College. This proposal will explore countless aspects of Sisters Chapel. First and foremost,
According to Ashleigh Lutz “Not only do electives help students develop their skills and better understand themselves, but they also help students better understand the world around them. ”The school board is taking away the computer science, cooking, and music electives. The reason is that there is a money shortage in the school board where they can't afford the electives. There are beneficial advantages associated with music. Students who take a music elective perform better in school than students who do not take the elective.
My Values of becoming a part of the NJHS I am Lauren Forsyth and a student of Catonsville Middle School. I feel that I should be a part of National Junior Honor Society because of my dedication towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. The following essay will demonstrate how I have dedicated my time towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. As of 2016, I have dedicated myself to 47 hours of service learning and giving back to my community is a very important part of my life. In 6th grade I created a fundraiser to help breast cancer awareness to help find a cure for breast cancer and I had earned 5 service learning hours with two hundred dollars raised in total at my school.
It is an honor to be nominated for the National Honor Society. The fact that I was nominated proves to me that all of my hard work and dedication has not been for nothing. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students who strive to achieve their best not only in school but in themselves and the community. I believe that I’m one of those students. Based upon my last two year at Matawan Regional I now have a 3.9 GPA and am ranked in the top 20% of my graduating class.
In accordance to the Camden Academy Charter High School National Honor Society application process I will be writing an essay based on the four pillars of the National Honor Society Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service and how they apply to me. Scholarship applies to me mostly through my scholastic work ethic, I am primarily intimating around my transition from sophomore year to junior year. When I first entered the CACHS school system I started out just like any other kid with regular classes and everything. Then around the final week of my sophomore year my teachers started coming to me talking about taking advanced courses for my junior year a topic I didn’t really think much about. My first teacher to come to me about advanced
To the average person, the high school marching band is nothing more than a bunch of geeks that play during half time at the football games or monopolize the benches by the band hall, but to me, it is so much more. To me it is a family, a safe haven, a creative outlet, a home. I have been involved in marching band for three years, going on four, and I wouldn 't trade the experience for anything. When I entered high school as a scared and awkward freshman, I immediately had three hundred people that I could rely on. The program quickly became like a second home to me and opened up a whole new path in my life.
I am very honored to be a student that is considered to be a member of National Honors Society. I have wanted to be a member since I started high school, and I know that this organization will help me in the future. I have worked very hard to get to where I am, and I hope I can continue that in this organization. To be a member I have to show scholarship, character, leadership and service qualities, which I think that I have.

To be an honors student takes a lot of hard work. There are many factors that go into being a successful student. I believe that you must be determined, organized, and disciplined. These three qualities are the key to succeeding in your goals because I have used them all throughout my high school career, and plan to use them in college. Determination is the quality that makes you keep on trying, and to never give up, even if things get difficult.
