Adversity In Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring

The Hobbit, a marvelous tale by the accomplished novelist J.R.R. Tolkien, closely follows the outline of the hero’s journey. Hero’s journey is the process where a protagonist in a story often completes in order to complete this quest. This is shown through three separate phases or acts called the departure, initiation, and the return with each act containing different stages of the plot. Because of it’s beautiful understanding of this process, The Hobbit is agreed to be one of the best examples of the hero’s journey use in modern day literature. Each step had an equal role to providing the prodigious anecdote’s importance to people across the world.

Kevin Conroy once said “Everyone is handed adversity in life. No one’s journey is easy. It’s how they handle it that makes people unique.” What Kevin means by this quote is that people will go through bad times, but it is how one handles the bad times. Adversity is defined as a condition marked by misfortune, calamity, and distress.

I’m going to start with a definition of adversity. Adversity is difficulty and misfortune. In the following paragraphs are examples of people who had diversity and a quote about adversity. And how they worked through it. In almost any example of an adversity the thing that keeps people going for their loved ones.

Despite their different settings and characters, both Star Wars and Lord of the Rings explore the themes of fear, power, and fate through their respective characters' journeys, showcasing in both similar and unique ways how these themes can lead to tragedy, but also how they can be used to rise to the challenges placed upon them. Fear is a crucial aspect of both The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. these were explored quite differently from one another. For example, in Star Wars the driving factor for Anakin to become Darth Vader was his fear of loosing Padme. “I will do whatever it takes to save her.”

“Don’t be afraid to change. You may lose something good but you may gain something better.” In the Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien presents an unlikely hero, a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. Another important character in the novel is Gandalf, a wizard and an old family friend, forces Bilbo to come out of his comfort zone onto a journey to recover the dwarves name and gold from the evil dragon, Smaug. Bilbo fulfills the archetypal hero’s journey by starting of an in ordinary world ,facing Ordeal, Death, and Rebirth, and The Road Back while illustrating the theme of innovation.

What is needed to become a hero? The movie Hercules is about a special guy that lives in a ordinary world. Hercules is trying to find out where he belongs. Once he finds out Hercules needs to prove himself that he is a true hero. In Hercules journey stages are Departure, Initiative, and the Return

They reunite and continue the journey. They are confronted by some wild wolves and Gandalf calls help from some eagles that save them. They are carried nearer to the lonely mountain. They must travel through the forest of Mirkwood. When they are going through the forest they are captured by wood-elves.

Written by J.R.R. Tolkien in 1937, The Hobbit has become an award winning novel, that was able to influence modern day literature. Tolkien’s story follows the hero, Bilbo Baggins, and his quest to cease the long lost treasure. Through his quest, readers have the opportunity to witness the hero’s journey through Bilbo’s adventure. A Hero’s Journey lays out the path that most heroes and protagonists follow throughout their trek, in order to reach their goal. Divided into three main acts, the hero’s journey has 13 key steps, and The Hobbit demonstrates all of them.

Man's Actions The fans of J.R.R Tolkien are well aware of his trilogy the lord of the rings, and as a reader, I always wondered about Tolkien personality, personality and such makes one's character and that is a heavy influence in their writing. From what I have read so far Tolkien's impression on me is that he is a daydreaming man that has an endless imagination, that has made his work beloved by millions around the world. I'll be going over my sources in how they discuss the influence that friends had on Tolkien’s writing and the inspiration that life events & his morals had on Lord of The Rings It's common knowledge that fans know that JRR Tolkien has served in a war, World war one to be precise and we all know how war affects most people. War is something significant in one's life one that will never go away, you see the brutal violent deaths of your close comrades, almost die in multiple occasions yourself, you know what true fear is like.

Bilbo escapes being captured by killing the spider that was attacking him. Bilbo kills the spider with a sword and says, “I will give you a name, and I shall call you Sting” (154). With Sting and his ring, Bilbo sets off to save his friends. Bilbo slips on his ring when he became close to the spiders. He decides to try and lure them away from where they had the dwarves hanging from a tree branch.

The company faces many challenges while Gandalf aids them. Eventually, Bilbo becomes forced to take charge and lead the company to the mountain. The experiences Bilbo encounters throughout his journey define and shape him into the hero he becomes. The Hobbit follows the story of Bilbo by mirroring the heroic journey, showing Bilbo’s dramatic change from the Hobbit he once was.

The stories of his triumph over the monsters spread throughout the land, affecting the other’s views on him as a loyal man and a hero through it all. In

The council provides the first step to Frodo to destroy the ring by assembling the actual Fellowship of loyal and brave companions.
