Have you ever wondered if playing one sport is better than playing multiple sports? Studies have shown that there are many benefits to playing more than one sport. Playing multiple sports can help you in the future and can prevent you from having serious injuries. I believe, that it is much better for an athlete to play more than just one sport.
Playing multiple sports has healthy and safety benefits. Movement and practice in different activities will allow you to strengthen different muscles groups and reduce the full time strain and potential overuse of muscles associated with one sport. The factors can decrease the risk of injuries in young athletes. Evidence of this point is illustrated by studies that have shown that many, “Athletes who compete in more than one sport have a lower rate of injury”(King paragraph 6).

To elaborate, people will argue that one sport is better than playing multiple because you won’t have time for your social life by playing multiple sports. It also presents greater time commitment for parents to get kids to practice all year round. It becomes a significant drain on family time. For this reason many people believe that doing one sport is more beneficial to your health and provides kids with the opportunity to a more balanced overall life. Despite these sentiments, I believe that even though you have more time on your hands when you limit yourself to playing only one sport, this doesn’t overcome the positive aspects of playing multiple sports. Furthermore, nobody should give up playing sports so they can have more free time with any intention of being lazy. Even athletes who have a period of downtime must use some of that free time to continue to condition and
Depending on what sport you play some student athletes play multiple sports in college. Students are sometimes able to take some classes for free which means free credits to go on your college resume. Even though the free credits are nice to have and good to take advantage of, it means more homework and time spent in the classroom (Arnett 1). There is already so much stress on college students if they are just there to do their studies, and then throwing sports and practice into their schedules makes it very difficult for students to succeed. Balancing work, school, and sports is so difficult for students to do and succeed in all 3 (Dellenger 1).

High School Sports Should be Funded Every year 300,000 students are participating in sports (Gould 1). The School District has been funding the athletics program, which has been benefiting many of the students’ lives for several years. The discontinuation of high school sports will cause many students to loose the health, social and educational benefits provided by participating in athletics. The School District should continue to fund sports because they benefit students.
Football is America’s favorite sport. American citizens spend their Sunday nights glued to the television, and Friday nights at the stadium watching athletes tackle, run and catch. Some viewers believe that football is too dangerous and should be eliminated from high school. Football is a dangerous sport; however, it should not be eliminated from high schools, because that tactic would be too severe. There are other ways of decreasing the dangers of football.
Athletes who play football or basketball are at a higher risk of career ending injuries. These two sports are the hardest on an athletes body. Only one out of twenty-five college athletes go pro, so why put your body at risk when you don’t receive anything for doing that and your chances of going pro are slim? A lot of these student athletes are stressed out because of schoolwork participating in a college sport. This is just another reason that these athletes deserve to be

Movement and practice in different activities will allow you to strengthen different muscles groups and reduce the full time strain and potential overuse of muscles associated with one sport. The factors can decrease the risk of injuries in young athletes.
