That may be because having so many options and channels to watch divides audiences, maybe only boys like that movie or maybe only girls like that movie all because of there being so may channels and things to watch. If there was only three channels on your TV would you and your family watch TV together more often? Probably yes, because that is all there is to watch.

Research Problem Disney Channel’s The Proud Family (or TPF for the duration of this paper), is an animated show about a middle class African American family that focuses mainly on fourteen-year old Penny Proud. Blasphemy! How can parents possibly choose to make their children watch Disney movies? Disney movies have been a part of millions of people’s childhood. All the adventurous stories, “innocent roles”, and happy endings may seem harmless, but they are affecting the audience’s mind by sending the wrong message. Disney movies are negative for the viewers, and aren’t beneficial to children because they represent historical inaccuracies, send subliminal messages, and promote sexual activities.

As Lucia Palmer, emphasis in her article “Sluts, Brats and sextuplets" that “Children are defined as dependent, powerless, and ignorant, which constructs adults as independent, powerful, and knowing (Holland, 2004)." (P.135). Showing this type of images as if, children are dependents, powerless, and ignorant makes the children feel as if they are and they cannot do anything about it. In today 's society it is difficult to connect to someone on a personal level, but anime is doing just that. Anime is popular with many different types of people around the world and has been one of Japan’s most lucrative businesses since 1798 (Aoki). Anime and its subculture is misunderstood by most Americans, who are unable to recognize the allure of them. To comprehend this ever expanding subculture, people need to understand the enticement of anime, which is feeling connected to something bigger than themselves. Anime and its subculture is important to study because this particular subculture reflects where our entertainment videos and televisions is expanding to.
