Today, I have got the privilege to speak in front of you. This speech, first of all, is dedicated to our president, and my friend, Abraham Lincoln. He is a man of faith and courage, I admire him very much, and may God bless him. I share with him, his opinions on slavery, and together we have managed to decrease the number of slaves in our nation. For slavery simply cannot be justified in a nation that has been formed on the basis of equality of all people. Verily, Slavery is against the basic principles of our country’s constitutional law. Yet rather than strengthening the freedom of our country, we tend to think very childish, and therefore fall into a trap that we made ourselves. To do this, Lincoln introduces the 2 opposing sides as one audience by using the word “all.” By stating that “all dreaded it, all sought to avert it” (18-19), Lincoln creates a link between the audience and himself which sets up the opportunity to influence the audience’s emotions.
The Second Inaugural Address was a speech by Abraham Lincoln about what he will do for the country for his second term on March 4, 1865. At the beginning of the speech he briefly talks about how he will run and that he has high hopes for the future. He spoke to the whole country about what he will do next, but what he said was brief.
