This reflection clearly describes the event and explains it in a manner that is easy to follow. It identifies the multiple parties involved in the consultation and gives a sufficient description in their roles. The reflection is clear and concise; the author identifies the different behaviours and attitudes displayed by Miss X, Dr Y and Mr H. The reflection offers reasonable explanations for the way that each member behaves and reacts to the consultation. The author was able to identify the relevant ethical and professional issues raised by this case as well as explaining why they were relevant to the case. The discussion and analysis of the events was clear, concise and coherent. The author also makes reasonable suggestions about how this
In chapter fourteen of A Different Mirror by Ronald Takaki, the author elaborates how all nations contributed to political and economic climate during the 20th century. As World War II escalated in Europe and Asia, President Franklin D. Roosevelt made a speech to Congress on January 6, 1941, stating that we support those who struggle to gain human rights and that our nation has the destiny to have people gain freedom everywhere. Eleven months later on December 7, 1941, Japan dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbor. President Roosevelt took the initiative of the Kellog-Briand Act, resulting in the United States entering World War II. This changed the United States relations with Mexicans, Africans, Japanese, Chinese, Jewish, and Native Americans.
The author validates her argument by showing key points
However, the author’s overall argument is to not criticize
Although there were numerous beneficial experiences for the Consumer through the supported decision-making process, the deterioration in mental state and the concern relating to exposure of vulnerability and openness to manipulation by others could not be overlooked (Office of the Public Advocate Systems Advocacy, 2014). Dignity of risk relates to the Consumers right be able to make decisions that can involve a level of risk, however the duty of care of the primary nurse and treating team was to ensure that safeguards are in place to minimise risk of harm to the Consumer and/or others that may be effected by the decision made (Victoria Government Department of Human Services,
Critical Reflection and Analysis Co-working a case through conducting direct work with an eight-year old girl, I used professional curiosity to explore an alarming self-disclosure made to me about her sleeping with a fifteen-year old boy, who was a non-relative. By keeping an open mind, avoiding making assumptions, analysing what was said and observing the child’s body language, I determined that whilst this incident was really inappropriate, there was nothing untoward happening. However, to safeguard and minimise risk for the child, I relayed this information to the relevant social worker so the concern could be properly addressed and resolved. With the C. family I had to consistently question and evaluate the reliability and validity
One of the most prevalent ethical issue associated with reflective practice is that of confidentiality, although no names are revealed when reflection takes place, it can be questioned as to whether the interactions we have with patients should be used to help further our professional development (Hargreaves J. 1997). Reflection and reflective practice also have professional implications as it increases the student’s vulnerability as they are recounting events which could have caused them distress in the past as reflection itself is a process which requires the individual to reveal the minute details of how an event made them feel, therefore it is vital that people who are undergoing this process have the support that they require (Cleary M. et. al. 2013). Knight K. et. al (2010) argue that not only do students need this supervision, reflective practice groups should be favoured as they give the students more support, not only from their supervisor but also their peers who could be going through the same
This follows the Care Act (2014) as Patrick has been given control of his own care, by having a say in the decision. The next step is deciding a course of action, in this step Jeff has to identify his responsibility and assess how he could reduce any risks. He thinks the best course of action to do this would be to arrange a consultation for Patrick with the sexual health advisor. Step four is testing the decision, and consulting the Equality Act (2010) shows that this would be the right decision if Patrick’s health status is kept confidential, because it may prevent possible discrimination. Simon (the sexual health advisor) assured Patrick that any information about him will be
Reflecting on this clinical practice has been unquestionably beneficial to me. It is helped me ascertain further information about dignity and the importance of it. It has also allowed me to evaluate the care I give and develop personally and professionally. Using the Gibbs (1988) reflective framework has enabled me to look at all aspects of the clinical practice and gain essential information relating the maintenance of dignity. I have found this assignment of reflecting extremely interesting and have enjoyed learning new things about myself and the care I give in clinical practice.
In lines 43 through 47 the author suggests this by
The following reflection piece is based on an event which I experienced during my internship placement. Johns model of reflection will be used for this assignment. The reflection is based around my own personal experience with a terminally ill patient. It focuses on one main issue, providing hope for patients and how I felt about it. it also discusses my feelings, the knowledge I had, my knowledge gaps and what I learnt through literature during my reflection.
Relevant legal and ethical considerations, focusing on the 4 main ethical principles and how each of these apply to this case using research evidence. Focusing on the ethical theory of Beauchamp and Childress, it is considered one of the most fundamental elements for beginning a discussion in the Not for resuscitation (NFR) debate. (Fornari, 2015). The four main ethical principles, autonomy, non-maleficence, beneficence and justice hold the grounding block for issues of this nature. End of life care is an imperative characteristic of acute stroke nursing, as stroke mortality rates remain high, regardless of enhancements in the health care industry.
The Butler Reflection: After watching “The Butler”, I learned about the presidential administrations of Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon. We learned how each affected the Gaines family and the civil rights movement. 1957 - The Eisenhower Administration Cecil goes to his new job to serve Dwight D. Eisenhower. He meets the other staff, including head butler Carter Wilson and co-worker James Holloway. Cecil brings tea to Eisenhower, who is meeting with Chief of Staff Sherman Adams and Attorney General Herbert Brownell.
The Term reflection can have many meanings to many people. Reflection can carry meanings that range from the idea of professionals engaging in solitary introspection to that of engaging in deep meaningful conversations with others. But for this assignment I will focus on; what is refection in the clinical setting, why it is important for health care professionals to reflect and where the ideology of reflection came from. I will also provide a personal experience of reflection during my time in the clinical setting that helped me to come up with a solution to a challenging situation. WHAT IS REFLECTION?
The aim of this paper is to analyse a critical incident which occurred at the student health visitor’s area of practice. A critical incident is an event which when it occurs, makes one pause and consider the situation to give an element of understanding whilst dwelling on the negative and positive aspects of the experience in transforming knowledge and behaviour Hannigan (2001), as cited in Elliot (2004). In order for one to analysis an events there is a need for reflection on the process and evaluate its outcome. Critical incident analysis is identified as discussion and reflection on motives and justification of actions used when an incident happens and its effectiveness in enhancing practice in future (Elliot 2004). This process involves
