In the book “I Had Lived A Thousand Years” by Livia Bitton-Jackson talks about Jews being tortured by the Germans. The Germans hate the Jews because they blame the Jews for losing World War 1. Ellie and her family were sent to concentration camps where they face their nightmares and are separated by the Germans. They were suffering, but were afraid to run away.

The title of my book is Lost in the Barrens. It is a fiction book by Farley Mowat that contains 244 pages. The Main Characters are Awasin, Jamie Angus, Alphonse, Denikazi and peetyuk. Awasin is a quite serious and he knows about how to survive in the wilderness and thinks more before he acts. Awasin is good at weaving, making clothing and hunting.

Salva an eleven year old had to flee from his village all alone because his village was attacked due to the Second Sudanese War that began in 1983. When Salva was at school and his village was being attacked,he was told not to go home, but into the bush,that's where his whole journey began. Salva had to show confidence, determination,and perseverance in order to survive in a difficult environment.

The book “ A Long Walk to Water” by Linda Sue Park has some Real characters and then there is some fictional characters. It takes place in Southern Sudan a place battered with war. There is this boy who lives in the village named after his grandpa and the war comes to his village he is forced to flee the rest of the story is about his hard and long journey to safety. A personal journey is a journey where you are on a long adventure and you always seem to feel alone or working through things by yourself. These pieces of text evidence both have to do with my thesis because in both he feels so alone.

This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the musical production of "Once," based on the book written by Edna Walsh with the musical’s basis taken from the 2007 film of the same name, directed by John Carney. In the excerpt “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid is an example of modernism in literature. This experimental form of writing consists of a list of suggestions on how women should carry themselves to live a happy and fulfilling life. Kincaid takes common advice that’s daughters are constantly hearing from their mothers and tie them in a series of commands that she uses in this poem. This piece represents the transfer of knowledge through a family’s history, or words of wisdom from parent to child. Seeing the way that this story is written was puzzling to me at first.
