Before year-round schools began, many children would help their parents work on farms. Year- round schooling began in the 1800's but during World War II many students went to work in factories, thus year-round schools were halted. Nowadays year-round schooling has many benefits. Schools should be year-round.

Due to a long summer break, students forget much of what they learned the previous year. During the long break students can lose two or more months of schooling. This means students lose twenty-two percent of what they learned the year before (Dennis). Additionally, teachers spend the first month of school reviewing information from the previous year. Many teachers say they see if the students retained information and then review the forgotten information. Year-round school have increased performance rates considering not having a long break when many students lose much information. Students tend to retain more information without the long summer break.

Year-round school further reduce teacher and student burnout. Frequent break can help students recover from the mental and physical demands of school. Students are put through many demands of school such a break would help students recover from …show more content…

Year-round schools can occupy more students. Year-round schools can use a system that separates the students into four groups called a multi-track system. So, while three groups are in school the other group is on break. Year-round school minimizes overcrowding. A school in a building built for seven hundred fifty students can enroll as many as a thousand students (Weaver). Year-round schools as well uses the building more often in behalf of being used in the summer. During the summer people argue year-round school is more expensive because of being in operation in the summer but, since most year-round schools use a multi-track, it is cheaper than making a new school.
