According to my research, The Wizard Of Oz is a a film made in the late 1930s. The true definition and meaning behind this was very simple. According to numerous sources, this film was based upon events that occur during that time. The Wizard Of Oz was about a character named Dorothy and her quest in the magical land. During her time there she encounters other charters and other conflicts that reflects and relates to the events that happened during the 1930s. The storyline consistently relates o events that occur during the 1930s. An example of this would be the tornado that blew Dorothy away from her home in relation to the Dust Bowl that occurred in the late 1930s. The story opens up with Dorothy living on a farm in Kansas. It’s a scene engraved into the western world’s collective memory: a pigtailed girl in red slippers, skipping along a yellow brick road with a scarecrow, a tin man, and a lion. This image, from the book “The Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 film of the same name, represents the epic of the modern age. Whereas in ancient times, we had Gilgamesh or King Arthur as our gallant hero, now we have a little girl from a farm in Kansas. At first glance, this simple story of a young girl lost in a magic land could not compete with the great tales of old. However, this epic shares more than a few similarities with this seemingly childish
There were many ideas of populism that are present in both the book and the movie “The Wizard of Oz” The main character, Dorothy, was representative of the common farmer. Farmers during that time were mainly populists, and had populist beliefs. The populists believed that the gold standard was not good. They believed that they should have money backed by silver which would lower the value of the money, but it would also make it to where there is more money in circulation. In the movie and book Dorothy was walking on the yellow brick road.
In the book and the film the setting and mood are very different, which makes the film come alive. In the book Dorothy goes to Oz, but in the film it is all a dream. Dorothy said gravely, "From the
People throughout America had different views on how to end segregation, as each state had its own background with segregation and slavery. Oklahoma although it prided itself on never being a slave state it still had segregation, from the 1920s to when schools and public places began to be integrated in the 1960s. In the earlier phases in segregation practices in Oklahoma you could find the Ku Klux Klan marching through downtown Oklahoma City, people recognized and supported the Klan. The Klan recruited Public High School students to join their patronage against the African American community. The segregation occurring within Oklahoma provided the African American community with many hardships, such as not being able to shop in many stores,

The wizard of oz filmed in 1939 by director Victor Fleming also known for his work directing “Gone with the wind” (1939) and “Test Pilot” (1938) is a film based of L. Frank Baum’s 1900 Adventure Fantasy book titled “The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz”. The start of the film takes place in Kansas U.S then transitions to Munchkinland and environment located in the Land Of Oz and throughout the storyline the protagonist Dorothy Gale played by Judy Garland travels across regions in the Land Of Oz. This film has received critical acclaim in the decades since its release almost 80 years to this date which I personally believe is well deserved and would give a 10 out of 10 rating to. The film begins with Dorothy and her beloved dog Toto (played by film star dog Terry) running from Miss Gulch the owner of a neighboring farm who Toto is in trouble with for biting.
Because Oz flew off without Dorothy in his hot air balloon, Dorothy became very upset and made her anxiety even worse, causing her conscious to be the antagonist. She is the protagonist, too, because she is the one undergoing the main change, which in this case is leaving without the hot air balloon and clicking her heels together. This is showing person versus self because Dorothy, the protagonist, is struggling with herself, making her feel worse about the situation. The denouement is when Dorothy wakes up in her bed with her family right by her side. After she tells them of her adventures, they believe it was just a dream and that she must’ve hit her head hard, but she believes that it literally happened, therefore this supports the person versus self conflict because Dorothy’s struggle with herself continues as she has to identify if the time really occurred.

The Wizard of Oz has revealed to be an exceptionally well thought out film when analysed. The film has made use of stylistic elements such as colour, light, sound and mise-en-scene which coincide with the various twists and turns of the plot as Dorothy moves from Kansas, to Oz, and back again. In The Wizard of Oz, the directors have employed the use of different unique editing techniques despite being an early film. It is obvious that the audience is able to notice the absence of colour in the beginning and ending of the film. The audience is able to identify the mood and overall feeling for Dorothy when she is in her family farm in Kansas.
