In the F-Spotify article the author wrote one of the hottest topics around online streaming, artists’ financial reimbursement. Piracy and these new distribution tactics reduce the amount of money returned to the recording company and artist. Internet piracy has been around as early as 1999 and has been growing bigger and bigger ever since. Recently this crime has become so large, that people in government positions are debating whether to persecute individuals who commit this offense. Research proves that prosecution should be enforced to whomever commits the felony of Internet piracy. The reasons include loss of money and loss of jobs. Which in all perspective hurts the economy overall.

It all depends on the artists personal preference and the record company behind them.  Some songs simply are not good enough to gain popularity without a controversial video so artists like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga often use them.  To extend income  Without a video, an artist would lose their main promotional tool which grants them an audience on YouTube and TV so in turn the song would be less popular, make less money and the artist wouldn’t get as much publicity. Also the benefits that come with the music video such as establishing an image, product placement revenue and recognition would be lost.  If a music video gets popular then subsequently the song will gain popularity too and therefore sell more copies.

The music industry is an entertainment business and with almost any entertainment business there is some sort of corruption either known to the public or at times hidden. The music world is currently going through a transitional period of it’s payment model and how the artist and producer of a song gets paid.  Producers are not being paid or credited by record labels and artists because of the position there being put in in the industry; they need to come together and find methods to license/contract there work and also raise awareness.     The new model that the music industry is transitioning to is the streaming model.

An injunction restricts an infringer from continuing to redistribute and make money.
