Archaeologists study material remnants left by past humans to learn about their culture and practices. There are different practices that archaeologists can exercise, such as the reconstruction of material remains. This is done by reconstructing broken objects such as pots or houses. By doing this the scientists can now reconstructing their life-ways, by studying artifacts found they are able to deduce what life was like for these people. There is also processual archaeologist, which practice archaeology as an empirical science so that all forms of cultural variation can be tested. Archaeology focuses on the archaeological record while paleoanthroplogy focuses on the hominin fossil record. Both of these study the human past to see what our ancestors were like and how they lived. While some archaeologists focus on biological human development, others focus on how cultures evolve and how societies form. Archaeologists can see change in activity present vertically throughout an excavation. With each layer, of artifacts and features, they are looking at a different time in the history of those people. Excavating destroys the site, this is why deciding to excavate a site can be difficult. Some sites remain untouched in hopes of having better technology to excavate them in the future. When excavating everything is recorded about the site and the surrounding environment. The surrounding environment is important in determining if any disturbance to the site might have occurred, from humans or the natural environment. Archaeologists have to take in account the natural environment when studying a site to be as accurate as possible. One good example of how nature can disrupt a site to give a false representation is rainfall and flooding carried bones and tools into new areas. Their new area could be mistaken as their originating point if natural forces are not taken into
It is the first step in determining a date of an object. Through the use of typology historians and archeologists are able to discover the cultural changes that occurred within the civilization. In reference to the Entombed Warriors of Xian it is evident that artifacts from the same time are from the same background and culture. This is known because they are made from similar material. In relation to this case study the roman catacombs has also used typology.
Since they don’t have the living people from the past here in the future. They have to piece together what they know about the past societies by their findings. They have to piece together what they find to know what they did on an everyday basis, what they ate and much more. When excavating a site

Cultural artifacts are different to everyone; to some individuals an artifact is family, friends, animals and belongings they were given or worked for. One student named Char Reeb works at Bob Evans and brought an apron from her work as her artifact. A brief description about Char is, she 's married and quit her job for her husband so now she is enrolled in nursing school and is graduating soon. Reeb hates her job because of the rude individuals that dine in and also because she works with very inexperienced high school students.
Archaeology is the study of past cultures analyses of physical remains such as tools, bones, foundation of settlements, etc. As an archeologist you need to be respectful and careful with the remains or sites being excavated also recently some countries have requested remains and artifacts that are in some out of country institutions to be returned to the country of origin. The video talks about the Mayans, and the fact that they were among the greatest architects of the western hemisphere carrying stones up to 1000 lbs. and also mentions how accurate their astronomers were. The video also provides us an example of experimental archaeology and knowledge of how Mayans in El Mirador used to grown enough corn to feed the population of about

“Collections in museums have preserved a vast wealth of American artifacts: ceramics, metalwork and glassware have their archaeological counterparts, and many materials that the archaeologist rarely has access to, such as leather, paper, fabric, and wood available for study” (Deetz, 1996: np). Leather, paper, fabric, and wood items are small artifacts, or small things, that can be digged up to be examined. Examining an old house many not give much information, because a house only has one used, compared to examining a clay pot. A house is only used for shelter, whereas a clay pot has multiple uses. Clay pots can be used for cooking, transferring water to one place to another place, or can be used for storage.
During the Aztec and Incan Empire period they did not have the technology we had. They did not have the tractors to farm the fields, the fancy working tools like drills and saws, or even fancy plates or silverware we have today. This Aztec and Incan people had the greatest mentality to come up with thse great inventions to survive that we still use to this day but more modern. These Aztec and Incan people had a very awkaward but advanced way of living. There houses were not the most fanciest place to live in but a lot of them poor houses had this one object and it was found everywhere in the structure of the house in the kitchen and even in the art side of the house.
Artifact: Captain America: Civil War (2016) Importance of Artifact: This artifact is important because it displays one individual’s courage and integrity to stand for what they believe is right. Captain America has always been a symbol of American rebellion and freedom since his conception in the original comic books. This theme is still alive today in this modern adaptation of his story in the 2016 film when he refuses to sign the Sokovia Accords (peace treaty agreement), a legal document that gives the United Nations control over the Avengers, even if it means fighting his friends. Genre: Superhero science fiction film, thriller (war movie) Similar Artifacts:

For this artifact assignment I have chosen to dig deep and pull out my inner cheerleader. Well to be honest I did not have to dig to deep. I love to cheer, all things cheerleading, and being peppy! The requirements for this assignments were simply to, and I quote the assignment submission page: “Design, gather, or produce materials using the arts that could be used in your classroom to enhance instruction in your content area. Your artifact will be completely unique and representative of your field of study as well as to one of the ideas, topics, and chapters studied within the course.”

Take the 1871 dig for Troy, a lost city. Heinrich Schliemann was digging in Turkish ground when he accidentally destroyed crucial parts of Troy. Schliemann was very careless with his work, and destroyed much of the rich history that could have given many clues. In source 1, paragraph 7, it states, “He had his workers open up huge trenches in the earth, shoveling out layers of debris and artifacts that had lain undisturbed for centuries.” Although they found the city, most of it was destroyed.
There were many similarities and differences between the Paleolithic and Neolithic age. The Paleolithic age, also known as the stone age, is known to have the earliest humans, who were nomadic. They were hunters and gatherers who used basic tools and fire to survive. The Neolithic revolution started in the Middle East near areas with fertile soil in about 10,000 BCE. Most early civilizations were river based.
