Adam Buckley Cohen is very familiar with this argument, after his son was afraid of injury before a football game. He says ¨While some may argue that competition is damaging to young people and spotlight the rare incidents of sports injuries, the benefits are significant.¨ Cohen believes that severe sports injuries are rare and should not stop kids from playing sports. Instead of cutting competitive sports because of fear of injury, we can make sports safer. It should be encouraged that kids use less contact and scientists improve sports protection like, safer football helmets. In reality, competition in moderation can be good for kids. In fact competition is often the greatest motivation and will encourage athletes to work
While some believe that athletes should have their own choice at making a decision to go pro straight out of high school, they should not do so because they will not be able to manage their million dollar contracts respectively. Speaking of contracts, the NBA should eliminate guaranteed contracts for rookies drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. They should do this because a careless high school kid, could just go into the draft not knowing, or caring on how much they are going to make, with the lack of experience on handling millions of dollars. This is very unrepsonsibible for a teenager, and not only for the high school athlete, but also for the basketball association as well. This is because of there noncommitment to have these players
" (Stenson, 2004, http://www.nbcnews.com/id/4556235/ns/health-childrens_health/t/pushing-too-hard-too-young/) This further shows how in the games the main priority for parents is not how their children are or feel, it's how they play and win. Even if they are hurt parents won't be concerned with how their kids are feeling, they will only be mad at them for hurting themselves. This is another reason why sports are bad for
Concentrating on winning or losing spoils the fun that games hold. In addition, equal chances should be provided to every child to participate. Competitive nature can assist the children in their life later on, but the focus should be on better mental and physical health. Football is a very physically active sport, and players themselves reap the benefits of being so active. One third of children are obese. Amir Khan states in the article “Should You Let Your Kids Play Football?”, “A lack of exercise is a major component of obesity.” ( U.S. News World Report) Many kids enjoy their life watching television and eating snacks, but what some children don’t realize is the consequences of their laziness.
It is a huge confidentiality that some people believe that girls shouldn't be allowed to play boys sports. The reason that this is, is because the girls will just get hurt because they are not strong enough. I believe that girls should be able to play boy sports because it gives them more opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities and be more active instead of staying on the couch. It also gives kids the ability to learn how to work as a team to achieve their goals.
Did you know that depending on the sport, students who play sports in college most likely have less than a 2% chance of becoming professional athletes? At middle schools, high schools and colleges across the country, everyone is arguing over whether or not students with failing grades should be allowed to play sports. In my opinion, a good education is so very important for our country’s youth, especially the athletes. Not a lot of kids are good enough to play in the top college sports programs in the country. But even those who are, still have an astonishingly low chance at making the professional leagues.
Therefore, one may argue that parents shouldn’t let their kids play football for fear of injuries and concussions occurring on the field. Quite oppositely, kids should definitely be allowed to engage in playing football which will make sure kids stay in shape and do better in school. To begin with, playing football allows kids to stay fit as fiddle. Football is a highly demanding sport that involves lots of running, jumping and tackling which can help kids stay in shape. Shockingly, “In 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.”

Youth football is a sport that is played in various places, many people think that it is not dangerous and kids should be able to play, while others think that this sport is too dangerous and should not be played. Based off of all the evidence that I have found through research, it has let me to agreeing with the fact that youth football is too dangerous for young children to be playing. This sport has pros to it, some of which are very good, but the con side outways it with extraordinary pieces of evidence, these are the things showing that this sport is not to be played at this age and overall. There are a few pieces of evidence and facts that show proof of why it is dangerous and why this can’t be stopped. Some of the reasons are very serious, such as CTE which is a brain disease caused by rapid hits to the brain, this has lifetime affects and changes you in many ways, in worst cases this can even cause death.
Children experience more harmful negative impacts, rather than beneficial positive ones, such as being at a constant risk of severe injury, wanting to opt out of sports early, and being under high levels of stress and anxiety. These impacts could lead to children being injured for an extended amount of time, children being inactive and unfit later in life, children dropping out of school, and many other catastrophic circumstances that children should not have to put up with. The opposing side suggests that children who participate in competitive sports experience positive impacts, such as staying healthy and in shape, and having positive psychological benefits. In some instances, these impacts may be true, however families with a child athlete opted for fast food, ready-made meals more than those of families who did not have a child athlete. Also, while competitive sports provide some psychological benefits, it has also been proven that they can cause stress, anxiety, and ultimately, attrition for the young athlete.

She claims that the games are not festive but they end up in the wrong development of a child’s brain. The coaches and parents have high hopes for their children that result in the pressure building. This changes the purpose of sports from teaching tolerance, teamwork and sportsmanship to merely winning by all means.
“In the U.S., about 30 million children and teens participate in some form of organized sports, and more than 3.5 million injuries each year” claims Stanford Children’s Health. It’s definitely true that competitive sports can cause all sorts of injuries from big to small. The media teaches people simply that sports leads to horrific injuries and can cause stress, but what the mainstream media hardly discusses are the great benefits of competitive sports. While there may be some negatives to competitive sports, that’s just life, and to add on to that; there are plenty of benefits which are sure to override to media’s facts. Kids should play competitive sports because competitive sports teach children powerful life lessons, contributes to their social and mental stability, and because of the physical gain competitive sports provides.
