Why Did Andrew Jackson Become A Successful President?

One of the main reasons he became president is because Jackson led him up to that point. During Van Buren’s presidency the Panic of 1837 occurred. A few months after he became president, the stock market crashed and his presidency began to fail drastically. The economy stopped when the banks around America started to fail and people lost their jobs when businesses started to fail. The economical failure sparked from Andrew Jackson’s presidency and from there is was hard to escape.

The reason for this is because even though he did some incredible things, some of the bad outweigh the good. For one of the impressing things that Andrew Jackson accomplished was becoming a president from a low part of society. From this, one can see that even a man of little background can rise to the top. Also, he took in an Indian child during the Revolutionary war when he was at a young age. Additionally, he won the Battle of New Orleans which protected America from Great Britain invasion.

Andrew Jackson Survived captivity. He survived captivity, which made him strong throughout all the things that he’s been through. In the wars he Controlled the troops very much. He controlled the troops which was a very good thing because he had a trip of many different people, and he will be booking to control them and win in many battles with courage and leadership. Throughout history our presidents have tried and will try to pave a path for America to not only become a good nation but a great one, but this will also cause a great amount of issues to arise for this nation. If these issues are not dealt in an adequate manner, many people will be affected in a negative way. Andrew Jackson was a powerful president who despised Indians to the point where he forced them out of their own homes. Jackson not only made the Cherokees march 2,200 miles to the west, but he also did not provide transportation, aid, or basic supplies which is extremely inhumane to do (pbs.org). Not only that

Whether it was hard or not to see, pain was felt during those difficult years of Andrew Jackson’s presidency. Multiple people played a part of why certain things may have happened, especially involving the pain of others. Although, there also were saviours who fought for justice. We as a class deeply went and searched back into history for multiple accounts and explanations of what happened in the years of Andrew Jackson’s presidency. What was the problem exactly?

Jackson developed the economy in a way that no man had too much but every man were financially stable. Jackson built new roads and made other infrastructural improvements especially in the south that were of benefit to the more working class “common man”. Jackson also introduced many Acts and Movements that would help to improve the United States and improve the lives of all US citizens. Andrew Jackson, a former orphan and a war hero, was a popular choice when he was elected seventh President of the United States in 1828. This was based on the fact that Jackson did not hail from a wealthy or “elite” background but from the working class western state of Tennessee.

In addition, his time in office led to increased land transportation to support a strong industrial and agricultural economy within the nation. Andrew Jackson was seen as a common man the voice of the people by some. By others he was King Andrew, trampling the constitution and instigating tyranny. Is Andrew Jackson a hero or villain? I believe that Andrew Jackson is a Villain. The reasons I feel this way because he killed off THOUSANDS of Native Americans and pillaged their land. He abused his power.

Andrew Jackson was one of the greatest presidents who made very difficult decisions for our country. Although his choices were not always the popular decision, he made choices that were always promoting democracy. The things that make a good democracy are: giving people a say in government, having a good leader that you can trust to make wise decisions, peace and stability between each country and other states, and having equal power in the government (checks and balances). Andrew Jackson came into office with a popular vote and great support. His supporters viewed him as a man of the people.

However, he abused this position of power and made several choices that were detrimental to the welfare and rights of the American people. Jackson implemented the spoils system on a national scale and had unofficial members of his cabinet who did not have to answer to Congress. After South Carolinians were upset by the Tariff of 1832 he was angry toward those who did not agree with it. He also destroyed the National Bank and authorized the Specie Circular.

Andrew Jackson during his time was considered a very patriotic politician he hated the rich, he hated the Indian, and loved the idea of slavery. It has been said that he grew up not educated and had a bad up bring but still managed to get to a high political suture. Jackson at one point was general and had a very decorated portfolio, which made sense he would become president, Andrew was most well know for “The Battle of New Orleans” where Andrew Jackson, prevented the British Army and General Edward Pakenham, from seizing New Orleans nearing the end of that war.

Andrew Jackson was a tough man. He even went by the name of ‘Old Hickory’. Andrew Jackson was a terrible president, but also a good president. There are many reasons why Andrew Jackson was a bad president. These are only the few reasons that we all already know or they are major events stated in US history.

Andrew Jackson has been remembered as a ground breaking president, even being put on the $20. President Jackson was a controversial figure, doing many popular and unpopular things in his time. Although he is remembered as a hero from the war of 1812, he also caused the Trail of Tears and tried to destroy the National Bank. As a result, Jackson should not be put on the $20 bill. His actions have caused many misfortune showing that villains do exist.

The time has come to make a judgement of the great Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States from 1829~1837. Although some people didn’t like Jackson very well due to very few of his decisions, he made many good decisions during his presidency. Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero of the common man due to his unifying leadership, generous approach of governing, and concern for economic equality.
