Andrew Carnegie was a self made millionaire who had philanthropist ideals which were visible through the millions of dollars donated to public services such as education and libraries. This would categorize him as a Captain of Industry for his contribution to the people. Bill Gates should also be identified as a member of this classification for his endless charity. Although he is an extremely wealthy man, he has funded many organizations that are of benefit to the general public and those in desperate need. Raised from humble roots, Andrew Carnegie came from a poor home in Dunfermline, Scotland. His father whom was the provider for the family was left unemployed and forced the family to sell their belongings to gain passageway into America. At an early age he began working for a telegraph company that would eventually promote him to superintendent. Although, he did not stop there. Although Gates grew up in a privileged home, he had to climb his way up the success ladder. He began with simple computer programing interests but these interests would lead him down a path of working hard and earnestly to perfect the software that would become revolutionary and lead to the success of Gates becoming one of the richest men in the world. However, he did not become a man consumed by the vanity. Immediately, he worked to fund associations that encouraged causes such as education, world health, and low income neighborhoods (Biography of Bill Gates).
