My siblings and I were in foster care for two years and then we went back to our biological parents. It was hard to go back with them because they had hurt us.

So much has happened to me in my 14 years of living! I’ve changed schools twice, made the Rocky Mountain Ballroom team, and met my best friends ever in the 2nd grade. So much more has happened in my life but these are some of the best things! All of these have helped me get through thick and thin. Changing schools the first time was pretty rough.

In the novel “A Prayer for Owen Meany”, John Wheelright undergoes a spiritual awakening when Owen Meany is killed. Owen Meany, John’s lifelong best friend, has faith in God and believes himself to be an instrument of God, a belief which John does not share until after Owen’s death. However, from the very beginning of the novel, it is clear that Owen was instrumental in the development of John’s faith. Learning a Life Lesson Reading A Long Way Gone, a book about child soldiers, in Sierra Leone during the 1990’s made me feel disgusted because of the treatment of the young children. Reading about the most disturbing sequence in life, dealing with children my age or under made me realize how much life means. My parents, Mary and Eric, decided they wanted to adopt children. They knew that there were children in different countries that were in need of loving parents, so they adopted me in the summer of the year 2000. The process of adopting a children from Russia is very difficult and strenuous. Through many weeks of waiting and review, my parents were finally able to adopt me. The moment I got adopted, my life, without a doubt, changed for the better.

Looking from a child to an adult I now understand why the adults in the neighborhood watched over everyone. It taught me a that there is strength in numbers and love conquers all. Growing up the fourth girl of five kids wasn’t tough or awkward for me. I am the baby girl, therefore I got away with a lot. I learned early on I was different, but could not comprehend whether it was in a good/bad way as a child.

Now I can talk about it with no shame and a smile on my face. The biggest lesson I learned is that it’s okay to ask for help and you are in charge of your own happiness. I’m constantly on the look out for that girl or guy who needs a helping hand. Depression and anxiety are real. It is not a joke.

We often realize that this moment is so signingagent when looking back on personal experiences and don’t realize it at the time. For me, this moment occurred when I realized that I had taken what I love most for granted. It all started back in 2004 when my family suggested that I get into a sport at a young age.

In one person’s life, there can be many changes. Some of them are small and do not have a very big effect on your life. However, other events are very important and can completely change a person’s life, such as moving to a new country, joining the military, getting married, or buying a house. A memorable day I my life is when I first found out I was a diabetic. I was scared and didn’t really understand what was happening. I was too sick, and for the most part out of my mind.
