Just by reading this children’s primer, we become aware of the playfulness as Dr. Seuss and the characters use their imagination to create a talking and lively cat. Also, Thing One and Thing Two rip up the house disturbing everything. Even the kites that the “things” use suggest freedom. Since this is a children’s book, of course there are tons of illustrations to provide a better understanding of the text. Just the look on the cat’s face as he bounces and balances objects portrays playfulness. Although the whole book is centered on play so children can learn to read, this book also teaches respect. In the plot line, the children constantly worry about cleaning up the mess before their mother returns home. This shows that the home style depicted in The Cat in the Hat is a place of honor and respect for their
When I was in 3rd grade, my teacher used to read us stories about Dr. Seuss and his adventures. The first book I read was Yertle the Turtle and it was the best book I read in 3rd grade. After we finish Yertle the Turtle, My favorite quote from this book is "I know, up on top you are seeing great sights, but down here at the bottom we, too, should have rights." we made Dr. Seuss hats. Dr. Seuss is more than nonsense words and rhyming.
The big round rug in his bedroom, animal skin rug, and the kitten’s fur are all examples of different textures that are evident through the illustrations. These give to book a new dimension on complexity. This makes the room and the life of the rabbit appear more relatable to children reading this
The author’s foreshadowing, irony, and symbolism help convey the idea that family is more important than money or material possessions. The author uses irony of saying their life is happy because they have a lot of money, although they are not living a happy life shows that you do not need money to live a happy life, money cannot buy happiness. The children acting wild and powerful is because they symbolize the lions that killed their parents. If the children get to carried away and not pay attention to their family, they will shut them out of their lives. Also, when the parents found a wallet with lion saliva on it, that foreshadows there will soon be danger, which was their death.

When the anticipated senior year finally begins, a typical student at Laurel High School enjoys a brief honeymoon of peer dominance and the illusion that the finish line is in sight. Then, reality sets in. College and scholarship applications burden an already hefty load of work so that by December, much like poor little Max the dog in Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch, seniors feel they are dragging forty times their weight up a steep, snowy mountain. I saw an opportunity several years ago to take advantage of their misery by assigning a document I knew most would need to write anyway, the dreaded personal essay. It makes perfect sense: it fits the Common Core standards, and they need the help.
Almost everyone in the world can say they recognize the name of “Dr. Seuss,” the author of The Butter Battle Book. His clever use of many different variants of satirical devices makes his work truly irreplaceable. He has many more classics, many even more infamous than The Butter Battle Book, such as Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and Green Eggs and Ham. The use of parody and reversal in his works really leaves a unique mark in them. Seuss is also very good at using hyperbole very effectively.
John Steinbeck in his novella, Of Mice and Men, utilizes multiple writing strategies to develop his central idea. Numerous different main concepts can be taken from the novella. One that is extremely prominent is the perception of the “american dream,” working diligently to achieve one’s goals and objectives. Steinbeck reinforces this central idea by applying imagery, figurative language, strongly into the entirety of the novella, but especially applying it in the first chapter.
The “Ted” Seuss Geisel, known as Dr. Seuss, is a great children’s author (“About Dr. Seuss”). Surprisingly, the start of Dr. Seuss career is quite different from how he ended up. One article states “Ted Geisel started his artistic career as a cartoonist for the New York Weekly Judge and as an advertising artist…” (“About Dr. Seuss”). Another famous doctor in the world is Dr. Sigmund Freud.
Anthropomorphism means “the attributing of human characteristics and purposes to inanimate objects, animals, plants, or other natural phenomena, or to God.” (www.dictionary.com) In easy words we can describe the term as giving human qualities to inhuman things or ‘personifying’ someone or something. As a general example we can say that: “The old banyan tree looked sadly at the river in front of it.” Here, the word “looked sadly” depicts the banyan tree with a sense – that it ‘looked’ and an emotion – ‘sadly’, although trees do not have these ‘human’ qualities within themselves.
In the 1950’s, Theodor Seuss Geisel released multiple new books including “The Cat in the Hat” and “Horton Hears a Who!” which are both well known stories still enjoyed today. In 1975, Dr. Seuss released “Oh the Things You Can Think!” which is another inspirational story about the intelligence and potential of each person. Many of Dr. Seuss’ books speak more to adults than children which makes them even more influential to American society by reminding adults they still have room to learn and
Another way to see Dr. Seuss as a creative person is by his early career. After he dropped out of Oxford over in England, he moved back to the U.S. with his wife. Here they lived in a nice small house and Seuss started cartooning full-time. As a cartoonist, he wrote little skits and animated them. When World War Two started Seuss began to contribute political cartoons for PM Newspaper, a popular paperback in the 40’s to the 60’s.

Now any time a children's book is enjoyable and fun, one can thank Dr.
