When I arrived at the trip, things had all turnaround. I saw a lot of people without their house causing them diseases. I changed my thinking that the world wasn’t that great. People were suffering and always fighting to get their house. I saw a lot of their sad face. I thought to myself even these people who weren’t educated still fight for their life. Then why don’t I fight for my life since I have more than them. During my lifespan, I have a lot of difficult things to work on, but sometimes it is too hard for me. “ If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.” This suggests that it is only through difficult situations that one can grow in maturity. This is particularly appropriate in adolescence. Adolescence is one of the most demanding junctures in one’s life. Difficult situations and relationships with people during that stage will influence an individual’s sense of self.
It is a corner of the world that, to the best of its ability, dignifies every person who enters, no matter whether they are the giver or receiver – and often achieves this through blurring these roles. I think the energy of love and acceptance created here ripples out and affects the world in ways that are known only by God” (Megan Mcdonald). In the summer I volunteered at The Columbus Refugee and Immigration Services. The Columbus Refugee and Immigration Services is an organization where refugees and immigrants come to achieve successful integration into their new American communities. Refugees come here from places all around the world, such as Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Nepal, and Burma. They go through an immense amount of culture shock, but The Columbus Refugee and Immigration Services persistently helps relieve the struggles they may go through. As a volunteer, I helped in teaching the refugees how to speak, read, and write English, and I taught them basic tools they could use in the workforce, such as counting money, behavioral norms in the workplace, and computer skills.
As I talked to one of my friends on the shore of Timberwolf Lake, I had a realization that changed my life forever. Timberwolf Lake is a Young Life camp in Northern Michigan that I attended the summer after my sophomore year. One of my friends was having a hard time in life and needed someone to talk to. While talking to him and making him feel better, it also made me feel better. It was then that I realized that I can make a difference in the world by make others lives more prosperous and more enjoyable. I wanted to make the world a better place than when I came into it.

Through serving others, I have come to realize that every person, regardless of one’s cultural background, has something to offer to the community. As an immigrant, I was quite hesitant about accepting new challenges. The fear of others’ judgment regarding my performance hindered my progress. However, through serving others in various capacities, I was able to interact and help people in my community, who themselves helped me overcome my fears. Whether helping patients at St. John Providence or assisting refugees at the American Red Cross, I was amazed as to how much my presence made a difference, especially for those who needed me to interpret for them.
People in life struggle with hardships enormously in life. People can overcome those hardships and become a new person entirely. Martin Luther King went through a great amount of hardships during the Civil Rights movement. Martin had a great amount of hate received to him all over the country.that just changed him to work harder to convince hateful people that blacks and whites could be together. Martin was sadly assassinated, but his image changed the world greatly.

It’s difficult to pinpoint a specific moment in one’s life in which your life is transformed. We often realize that this moment is so signingagent when looking back on personal experiences and don’t realize it at the time. For me, this moment occurred when I realized that I had taken what I love most for granted. It all started back in 2004 when my family suggested that I get into a sport at a young age.
A memorable day I my life is when I first found out I was a diabetic. I was scared and didn’t really understand what was happening. I was too sick, and for the most part out of my mind. But, what I do remember is a lot of pain and a few visitors. It wasn’t the best day and I don’t remember every detail.
There are many incidents one met in life that change the whole concept of living. Similarly I had an incident which not only change my vision towards life but also to the words you speak and how much they hurt someone enough that you then regret of saying them. It was a very dull morning for me.
I felt myself grow in my personal life. I feel happy with life. I got to experience fun moments with my significant other such as the excitement for my unexpected good essay grades or discuss the topics that were brought up in this class. I am eager to explore more into my major. I am glad that I have learned some skills for my essay, but these skills can also clean up my story telling as well.
