The words of others can often move us. Words can mend broken bonds, show others how we feel, and most importantly, the words of others can inspire change in our hearts. Pelé once said, “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” This quote by Pelé has often been the mantra of my life. Everyone faces challenges, but rising above those challenges and succeeding in life is never by mishap. It is through hard work and determination that we see our dreams come to fruition and that we achieve our goals. National Honor Society has shown me that small acts of kindness or service are all it takes to make a difference in the lives of our community members. Pelé says that success is found through, “...hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice…” These principles also apply to the characteristics of the person it takes to be an influential person in society and have an impact on our community. National Honor Society has been a great way for me and my peers to hold ourselves accountable to these standards and has been an outlet to make a difference in the world around us. However, it is not just about giving back to the community but also growing as humans through the projects we serve in.
