Analyzing “Lord of the Flies” Book and Film Versions In 1990, film director Harry Hook released the the film version of “Lord of the flies” based on the novel written by William Golding and originally published in 1954. While the novel and the film are similar in many ways, in the film version, the director changed some key parts of the story. In the novel version they get their from a plane crash all scattered around. However, in the film version the director change this part of the novel.

Simon and Rue are favorite characters of many who have read the Lord of the Flies and seen "The Hunger Games. " The various similarities found between the two play a role in this. The biggest similarity they share is their kindness. Simon shows the littluns kindness when no one does. Rue shows Katniss kindness even though they are fighting for their lives.

Usually, a well-built society derives from a strong leader who has the characteristics of guiding people to do the right actions. Such an example would be Beowulf who is viewed as a God-like hero and is highly respected.

In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, young boys get stranded on an island with no adults in the midst of a war. The boys were orderly and civilized in the beginning but then as they began killing pigs they slowly became savages and lost their civilization. The boys began turning on each other and the evil within them became present. Golding uses a variety of literary devices including personification, symbols, metaphors, and irony, to project the theme that pure and realistic people in the world can be unheard and destroyed by evil.

Imagine a world with no rules or laws? How would humanity behave if we could do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted, because there were no consequences for our actions? Lord of the Flies consists of a story due to the lack of social conditioning and Fahrenheit 451 portrays what it's like after too much too powerful social conditioning. Connecting the overlapping ideas of social conditioning, knowledge, identity, and truth in these two novels leads to a better understanding of human behavior.

Humans, according to the philosopher Thomas Hobbes, are selfish by nature. In his landmark work, Leviathan, he explains the importance of a strong government in society. According to Hobbes, without a strong system of government people would revert into a primitive state; war would run rampant, the natural law would not be abided, and those once tamed by society would become evil. They both have characters that exhibit animal-like behaviors. There is a person who is the voice of reason in each story. Both have a fight for leadership in both stories.

Ralph steps up as the leader of the boys but later on in the book, the position is taken by Jack which turns chaotic. The chaos leads to many problems within the group of boys. In the book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, it is shown that individuals make up society, Jack’s tribe shows this by controlling the boys with his beliefs, and making up his own rules that break the initial ones, although, the opposing side may say that society shapes the individuals. Beliefs are important in creating a society because it can organize the members values, however Jack does it tyrannically.

There are many factors that determine how people behave in their daily lives. We are run by a number of rules and regulations that influence the way we behave, talk and live. In Lord of the Flies, William Golding shows that without the influence of a civilized society and law and order, people’s characteristics can change drastically. Similarly in Macbeth, Shakespeare represents the loss of morality of a leader as his hunger for power clouds his judgement. Both pieces of literature present how both writers view the breakdown of morality through the breakdown of civil behaviour.
