Macbeth: The One Who Wants to Be in Control During Act II, Lady Macbeth is in control of Macbeth because she is stronger and more reliable than Macbeth at this moment in the play. Throughout the play Lady Macbeth tries to find every way possible to take control from Macbeth so that she can make her own rules. This also happens in real life to when Ilse Koch married her husband and worked with him at a Concentration Camp. As she was working with him she tried taking control and killing the people for what their appearance was. During war some people that you find try to take control over others so that they could make their own rules.

It all starts off with her wanting to take order of what her husband needs to achieve. She claims to want to take her weakness away while being a woman as she speaks on the murder of Duncan. “Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty!” Lady Macbeth is bold and fierce in what she takes authority over. Macbeth follows along Lady Macbeths plan when declaring the murder of Duncan.

She conjures a plan to murder King Duncan. Yet she herself cannot do the killing for Duncan looks like her father while he slept. So she orders Macbeth to complete the task. Macbeth does not feel killing Duncan is right and denies until he begins to become greedy and desperate. He ends up complying with his wife and kills King Duncan.

After hearing and believing what the witches had to say, Lady Macbeth tries to convince Macbeth to kill king Duncan. However at first, Lady Macbeth tries to make Macbeth the king by handling the situation herself. Control is shown as an important factor in Lady Macbeth and Macbeth 's relationship. Although they view each other as equals,"my dearest partner of greatness," it 's Lady Macbeth who is established as the dominant partner in the dynamic, inverting typical 17th century gender and social roles. She is very determined to kill the king as it will increase the Macbeths social status. Macbeth kills King Duncan which leads him and Lady Macbeth to believe that they conquer all and will not be disappointed in their accomplishment of murdering Duncan.

Lady Macbeth plans to invite king Duncan over for dinner, but really she is convincing Macbeth to murder him. She influences him to kill Duncan because he is the only one standing in the way of Macbeth becoming king. Lady Macbeth plans the killing but convinces Macbeth to do the dirty deed. Lastly, Lady Macbeth is one of the causes of Macbeth’s failure because she repeatedly questions Macbeth’s manhood until she persuades him to make a bad choice. “When you durst do it then you were a man” (1.7.53-58).

Her plan was to drug the guard’s with wine so they will pass out and then Macbeth could walk right passed them to king Duncan’s room to kill him. She also admits to the crime when she says “That which hath made them drunk hath made me bold” (2.2.1-2).

At the start of the play, Macbeth visits the witches with Banquo at the closing of the battle. The witches speak to Macbeth and Banquo and get the idea of a prophecy in Macbeth’s mind. “All hail Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Glamis./ All hail Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor./ All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter” (1.3.46-48). When the witches get the prophecy in Macbeth’s mind, he believes it will come true and misunderstands the prophecy of the witches. Although the witches make Macbeth believe in the prophecy of becoming the King, Macbeth is responsible for his downfall because they do not recommend Macbeth to kill Duncan.

How Much of Life can we Control Some people believe that they can take control of their lives and and create their own destiny, while others believe there is a natural force that decides what our destiny will be. With these words of Lady Macbeth, it seems that she has no sympathy towards the king. All her unpleasant thoughts have taken over her mind and all that she wants is to become queen of Scotland. The goal is to get rid of the king. In the cause of Macbeth telling Lady Macbeth about what the witched told him. It turned her insane with the idea that he will be ruler of Scotland.

She wanted the title of being queen and King Duncan was in her way of that, so she got into Macbeth’s head. Macbeth was reluctant at first, which also shows that he is not wholly evil.
