Jesse James- A Legend or an Outlaw?
Jesse James was an infamous outlaw in the late 1800’s. During the Civil War, he was a raider with William Quantrill and “Bloody Bill” Anderson. He is reported to have participated in many bloody raids, and is credited with killing several men. After the war, his brother, Frank James, and Cole Younger formed a gang which Jesse soon joined. Over 15 years, the gang robbed numerous banks and trains, and killed anyone who got in the way. Several members of the gang were killed or arrested while robbing a bank in Northfield, Minnesota. The James brothers escaped, recruited new members and continued their life of crime- all while being family men.
